Benedictine Sisters Robbed - Villa Hills

Featured Replies

I would hope it would be very difficult to fence those rings.

Is this the same sisters that just sold all the property?

I may have misheard this morning but the story on TV one of the sisters stated you had to have 3 different keys to get to these. If that is the case, something is off with this story.

Maybe it is a case where a good crow bar makes the 3 keys suddenly unnecessary?

May the spirits of these deceased sisters visit the thief or thieves each night before they try to sleep.

The way the TV story made it sound, the thief is one of the sisters.

Seriously? I haven't heard this or really kept up with it. Saw the story a day or two ago on FB but not much info provided.

Well only sisters had access to them. The rings were looked in a safe, that was locked in a room, that you had to go through 2 locked doors to get into.

No other damage is being reported so it has to be an inside job right?

Yeah, I would never steal from the religious – it couldn’t possibly end well.

Off topic, this story especially caught my attention because the Benedictine motto periodically comes to my mind off and on during my life.... thanks to my grade school parish priest who used to work it into his homilies on the regular, lol.

Ora et Labora

It just sounds so simple, magical and special.... Prayer & Work

I would think so. Do the sisters use outside help for any maintenance, janitorial, repair, etc.? I don't want to think of a nun doing this.

Dang. Evil and greed.

Update from the Sister’s Facebook page, Aug. 30:

We are sorry to report that neither the rings nor the money have been returned. We continue to hold out hope. We have received another anonymous offer raising the amount to $10,000 for the return of the rings.

One outcome is that the community now realizes the need for a security system and we are in the process of obtaining one. We have received some donations to help in the purchase and installment of the system.

Again we are most grateful for the kindness and outpouring of support from so many.

Maybe if the jewelry never shows back, some of that $10,000 can be donated toward that security system.

And again, I hope the souls of those sisters who passed visit the thief or thieves every night in their sleep.
