Anybody ever have issues with these guys? I thought they were Martins at 1st. What a pain in the rear they have been. They quickly had a mud nest under our covered porch and they have been a pain since. They even get after me some when mowing with the zero-turn. I know they they eat a ton of pest. But they are total pest themselves. We've had up to 15 of them buzzing the porch. Anybody?

Come on guys. I know some of you live out in the country and know about these crazy birds. Please advise.

I don't know if there is anything that you can do to fight the problem while you mow the yard. That is their behavior. They feed on insects in low lying fields. But if they're nesting near you, then you need to knock them out. They're not endangered, they live nearly everywhere. They're territory extends from Canada down to South America.

I used to have to watch for them every year. We have a really high deck and they would ty to nest under it every year. Eventually after several years of me knocking them down as fast as they tried to build them they finally quit trying.

No issues here. Saw them flying around at my high in-laws lake home this weekend, but they have not been a nuisance to me.

I've seen folks use moth balls to keep birds from nesting in particular areas. Bundle 4 or 5 month balls in some cheesecloth and tack or sit the bundle on the ledges where they're making their nests.

They are a protected species. It is unlawful to bother them while in the nest.
