Basement Barbers
Just looked at the last couple nights scores and there is no 'stats' column in the scores. Last year was the first year that KHSAA was requiring stats. Was there so much of a push back that they just squashed it?
All State Baseball
KHSAA and Maxpreps partnered together. Stats was posted on Maxpreps pushed over to KHSAA. Not sure what's going on with them this year though.
UKatdog
This is very strange. KHSAA website still states that stats and results are required by bylaw 27 but nothing is being reported by the state. The "Statistical Leaders" web page returns a "page not found" error. Last year, it seemed like many teams weren't posting stats consistently. Could KHSAA have decided they didn't want to enforce their own rules on so many schools that they simply dropped the rule without notifying anyone so as to avoid having to deal with the obvious conflicts of opinion? Colonels_Wear_Blue
It took at least 2 or 3 years to get everyone in the state reporting stats for football, even after the KHSAA started fining members for failing to do so. My best guess is that this is just part of the process.
UKatdog
I can understand there being a lag in full cooperation among the schools. But, the state not publishing anything to-date says there is more to the story. Have they given in to those who didn't want to report? Or, more importantly, now that the season has officially begun, if the rule has been quashed, shouldn't KHSAA have published something about a change? Maybe they did and I've missed it? LexVegas
I score for a team in Fayette Co. We have been doing the GameChanger-Maxpreps thing for about 4-5 years now so when the word came from the KHSAA last year that that was what was required we were already doing everything to be in compliance. Throughout the year, in talking with other scorekeepers, most were not even aware of the new requirements. The participation rate was horrible. In addition to that the KHSAA attempted to lay out a bunch of rules for the scorekeepers. We were not supposed to make any changes to the schedules or rosters. That was not practical at the high school level because during the regular season both schedules and rosters are pretty fluid. We complied with what we could but continued to do what we had to as far as rosters and schedules and we managed to complete the season with all games uploaded to KHSAA via Maxpreps. When I got the info from KHSAA this year for the requirements there was no mention of full stats being required for this year. The only requirement this year was that all pitch counts must be tracked via GameChanger at all levels. So Varsity, JV, and Freshman. You are unlikely to see full stats on the KHSAA site. Some schools may post stats to MaxPreps, and if a school you follow uses gamechanger you might be able to get stats and follow games through them by becoming a fan of the team via the gamechanger app. Our booster club was kind enough to pay the GameChanger bill so that all people who "become a fan" of our team in the app can follow the games live. If you would like to see the rules for this year they are here
UKatdog
That's a real bummer. I have to believe this also means stat leaders won't be posted state-wide since they won't have stats to use. KHSAA just gave up??? Is this how they've always operated?
