Pedestrian Bridge Collapse at FIU

FIU bridge collapse: Several killed after pedestrian bridge at Florida college collapses - ABC News

This was a brand new bridge, erected five days ago via a new method where it was constructed to the side, then swung into place. It didn't appear to me from another photo that it had a center support. It looks at this point like it was simply a massive failure in architectural design.

They don't have a death count yet, but there were 5-6 cars underneath it, stopped at a red light. Thankfully, it wasn't open to foot traffic yet, so no pedestrians were actually on the bridge.

I've always had a bit of an irrational fear of being stopped underneath bridges, probably due to seeing a dramatization of the 1989 San Francisco earthquake where a double decker concrete bridge collapsed. This does not help that one bit.

CWB are you stuttering or what?

I'm guessing that means you aren't seeing the pictures of the bridge/collapse that I posted?
