Are girls allowed to play another sport during basketball season

Are varsity basketball players allowed to play another sport during basketball season?

Yeah I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be. I know when I was in school there were some baseball and softball players that ran track in the spring. A lot of kickers on football teams play soccer. I don’t see why this would be any different. Obviously the only problem would be the coaches agreeing to split time.

And there's the rub.

I think it's a school decision

When my daughter was trying to decide which winter sport to play the HS basketball coach said they would "work with her" so she could do both. As parents we encouraged her to pick because there was no way she could remain competative in both sports (she tried it as an 8th grader) Ultimately though I think "work with you" meant as long as you come to all our practices and games you can do what you want on your own time. Which I was OK with because it is a team sport and everyone needs to be held to the same standards.
