Well executed play but is it legal for both hands to catch the ball from behind your head and shoot/tip with .2 on the clock? .

He didn't catch the ball. He tipped it. Perfectly legal play.

Super controversial finish in regulation. Should there have been time put back on the clock? Great play by BC to send it to OT.

Why would there be time put back on the clock?

The ball was knocked out of bounds as (or just before apparently) the final buzzer.

Oh, he meant the end of OT and not regulation.

Here’s the final play. No time should have been put on the clock.

No. Before the tip in to send the game to OT the ball was knocked out of bounds. The official blew his whistle for the out of bounds call as the horn sounded with St Pat leading. 0.2 was put back on the clock and Bracken ran the tip play to send to OT. There's a link to that video a few posts back.

Sorry, the final buzzer for regulation, I should have specified. With St. Pat up 2 in the 4th quarter and Bracken with the ball, the ball was knocked out of bounds by St. Pat as the buzzer sounded. They determined there should have been .2 seconds put back on the clock, which gave Bracken the possibility for the tip-in basket, which they got.

Just saw that. I’d be upset if I was the Pats coach. You can’t estimate or guess.

No official was watching the clock. No way you can put time on the clock.

I love having having a small part in games like this one. It was a great exciting game that Both teams played their heart out and both deserved to win. Nothing like tournament time.

Glad to be wrong in my prediction. Congrats to Coach Hinson & the Bears! :thumb:

Whistle and horn/red light seem in sync. Whistle maybe slightly earlier for the decision to put back 0.2. Incredibly close.

Evan Denison has a video of the original final play (when St. Pat thought they had won). And it is very hard to tell but it sounded like the ref blew his whistle for the ball out of bounds just a hair before the light and horn went off. Interesting thing is, I'm not sure who asked the refs to put time back on the clock.

I thought the players started to line up to shake hands and Coach Hinson was walking to the back of the line when his Asst ran and grabbed him and gave him the clipboard to set up the play that resulted in the tip.

St. Pat actually made a great comeback in the last 4 minutes of the game to get it tied and then take the lead on the 2 Garrison FTs. If the score would have held up it would have been a heartbreaking loss for Bracken. So this game had a couple of HUGE emotional swings for the teams. Congrats to both for a well played game.

It does sound like the whistle is a hair before the horn on the video but man is it close. I'm surprised they put more time on. Usually the officials are headed for the door at that point. What a play by Bracken to send to OT.

This is not the play everyone is talking about. It was the end of regulation.
