One at a time Titans. You sure took care of that ONE. Best of luck the rest of the way. ;)

Let me explain my earlier post, as it looks as though I am playing down Mercers offense. I think I failed to get my point across which is a positive one.

600+ yards of rushing against a decent Lloyd defense is not exactly an "off" night. They were explosive again. However, to be honest, Mercer lost 3 fumbles alone in the red zone.

My point is....

The offense hasn't peaked yet. The line is improving every game. Walker is getting back to last years form. I don't think we have seen their best yet. When it all clicks into place.......wow.

the paper said that every play Mercer ran were run plays... is this correct?

Yes..actually there have been a couple of games dating back to last year, where there were no passes. "Jaggerstyle"....right down a defenses throat.

Why not work on the passing game playing someone like Lloyd? I think it's obvious they have one of the best running offenses in the state. What are they going to do when they meet a team late in the playoffs that take the run away? If Mercer doesn't think there is a team in 2A that can contain their run, then they are naive.

As an add-on to what you said it would also be wise to have some sort of passing game because the run offense is not a good come-from-behind offense or a limited time on the clock offense.

Now you can argue that Mercer might never be behind in the playoffs. But just ask those old Oklahoma and Nebraska wishbone and veer teams of the 1970s who would find that one game a year when they fell behind and their offense suddenly became their worst nightmare.

They work on their passing game on a DAILY basis. It is a large part of their practice. They have thrown for over 1000 yards and 14 TD's dating back to last year. Not big numbers for a balanced offense, but more than respectable for a run oriented scheme. So that part of their game is there when they need it....they just haven't needed it so much this year. I agree they WILL need it deep in the playoffs.

Mercer Co. has a passing game, and thay have worked on it this year.

Stop the run and you get to see it.

It was great to have Donald Sunshine Walker #32 back in the mix of things! Great job to the Titans and congratulations Seniors - what an awesome win for Senior Night.

I think the fact that the district is so weak this year is really not helping them this year.

What district in AA is challenging?

What district in AA is challenging?

District 1 has two teams in the top ten and another (trigg) whose only losses are to the two ranked district teams.

District 3 has two teams ranked in the top six. District Seven and District eight also have two ranked teams.

According to Massey, the average ranking of the teams in 2A District 3 is 18.3. The actual ranking of Newport, the second ranked team behind Mercer in District 5, is 17th. Next toughest district top to bottom is district 1 (20.8) followed by District 4 (21.5). Russell's district (36.2 avg. ranking of the teams) ranks last. There are only 53 teams in Class 2A.

Hey wildcat.....it took exactly one post for the "R" word to show up.

It's like magic....:jump:

It is almost like the "R" people are worried or something. Hopefully we meet in December, I personally would love to see it, better than meeting them in the 1st or 2nd round.

I'm thinking Jaggers is keeping the passing game under wraps so not to expose it on game film for any future opponents, then roll it out when it's neccessary. Could be a risky move, but it could turn out to be a smart one as well. We'll find out the first time they trail by more than a touchdown.

Mercer has over 600 yards rushing:scared: , and a running clock in the last 4 minutes of the game.

Any doubters now?

Who would doubt a 5a school playing in 2a?
