I disagree and I’m neutral. The speed of Lloyd contributed to Beechwood having more fouls. IMO

The reasons we have snowflakes, it’s never missed shots and turnovers...blame someone and make sure your boy knows it wasn’t his fault

the ref were very inconsistent, both ways. Both coaches were saying to the ref to call it both way.

I told my son that we lost the game. We were up 3 or 4 and someone drove to the basket in a 1 on 3. They need to pull it out and run some clock. I would say this even if he would have made the basket. they only way you shot is when you have a wide open layup.

When coaches complain it puts doubts the kids head. Focus on what you can control. Kids start focusing on the referee screwing them because the coach is suggesting that in front of the kids. No ref is trying to do any team or kid wrong. Kids miss layups coaches make bad substitutions and refs make bad calls no one play dictates a game. Basketball is suppose to be a tool to teach life lessons and everyone to have a good time on top of it. 99% of kids will never play after their senior year. Lloyd was the better team tonight.

Little surprised by this score. Was Beechwood missing any of their starters ?

Beechwood started very slow. I believe it was 10-0 Lloyd or at least a 10 point Lloyd lead right at the start of the game that forced a Beechwood timeout. The Tigers slowly clawed their way back bit by bit. Finally in the 4th quarter Beechwood got a 3 point lead with about 4 minutes to go. Then the Tigers held the ball. I believe coach Goetz wanted to make Lloyd come out and guard them and create more open space for Beechwood's offense to work. However, the Tigers did not execute, turned the ball over, did not rebound and gave Lloyd too many chances to take control of the game back. The Juggs were able to finally make plays on a couple of the many chances they had and draw fouls down the stretch to win the game. Lloyd won the game by outrebounding Beechwood in the last 3-4 minutes and making free throws.

 

Observations:

 

Scott Draud is so smooth. He never looks rushed, plays very smart and can fill it up. A very fun player to watch.

 

Daniel Mescher was the best athlete on the floor. He is very quick and intense. Beechwood put him on Lloyd's Neal to shut him down in the second half and Mescher did just that. Mescher is one of those grinders everyone loves and coaches love to have on their team. He gives 100% effort on every play.

 

Now a question - why hold the ball on offense if you are the better team? From what I saw last night, Beechwood is the better team of these two. If I am the better team, I want more possessions in the game. When you hold the ball for the last minute of a quarter and hold it at the key point in the game, I think it takes away your team's momentum. Why not keep playing aggressively, create more possessions where your team will win and keep your opponent on their heels?

There starters were back. didn't practice all week. And IMO, 2 were playing at about 60%.
