10/16/06 Herald-Leader Rating The State

Featured Replies

Henry Clay has played a solid schedule. There are a lot of solid teams in the Lexington 4A area this year. Two of the teams on their schedule (Boyle and Dunbar) are traditionally a lot better than they have been this year.

As for the rankings....who cares??!! Henry Clay won't play Highlands or Cov Cath this year so what does it matter who is better. Put it this way, they are both good.

Mercer County is one of the top 5 teams in the state IMHO. This poll is a joke.

And the Christian County team they beat should make a run in the 4a playoffs.

My top 7:

1. Male

2. Trinity

3. St. Xavier

4. Bowling Green

5. Highlands

6. Covington Catholic

7. Henry Clay

Should Mercer be ahead of any of those teams?

I think they play with any of the bottom 4. I'm not a Mercer fan BTW.

Like I said, right down the middle.

The best team Mercer has played, Boyle County, lost to the Titans by two touchdowns. Henry Clay annhilated Boyle and I suspect the top three teams in 3A would beat them very comfortably.

Mercer might be the best team in 2A, but they've done nothing to show they're among the five best teams in the state. Not that they have to ... they're still a pretty solid team.

The thing that would worry me about Mercer, is what would we do if our run game got shut down? We can throw the ball but we havent had to really all year. I think they are legit top 15. I know what Henry Clay did to Boyle But Mercer has Henry clay speed from top to bottom. Now I'm not saying that they would beat HC. But as far as athletes they can match up. But, you can't win on talent alone. And, I realize that Mercer hasn't played any horses so there is no way they can prove themselves this year. They will play some good teams in the playoffs that can beat them. But there isnt anyone in class AA that if Mercer beats that will improve their stock value in the eyes of most on this site. And I understand that completely.

^ An excellent analysis of reality, Mercer Titan. :thumb:
