Is Henry Clay a threat to Male,X and Trinity?

Henry Clay is a threat only if an offensive shootout emerges. Henry Clay has speed, speed and more speed. They are very suspect upfront on both sides of the ball, also they do not play good defense. However Gay, Minnifield, Jeter and Boyd form a group of skill players that no one else in the state has. Ryan Phillipi is the new QB for HC, he is cat quick and throws a very nice ball, he is young and mistake prone(at times, other times he looks like a world beater), he has a tendency to lock on to a receiverand not "check down" to a 2nd or 3rd guy, he has improved as the season has gone along though and that makes him more dangerous now. Sometimes the guys on HC have a tendency to play a little out of control, and make questionable mistakes, some guys will lose control of their emotions more than others and this has hurt them at times with personal foul penalties.

Unfortunately for the Blue Devils, they have only played a couple teams with similar levels of speed and they have struggled in both games against Scott Co., and Christian Co., a tough disciplined team like St.Xavier or Trinity will definitely wear them down and can negate their speed. Also I'm sure Male doesn't lack for speed and can outscore HC potentially.

Looking at this district showdown, I see two things that worrie me about HC, they did not play well against 0-9 Dunbar, and they made too many penalized mistakes the last two weeks. Hopefully they can avoid a late season let down, like they did last year against PLD. I can't see Henry Clay blowing out Lafayette.

In no order??? Your kidding, right?

and you would suggest??

Henry Clay and Scott County are a notch above everyone else right now.

Lafayette is undefeated but played a weak non district schedule. 3-5 Boyle County was their best opponent (non district). They have won a bunch of close games. 0-8 Dunbar had them on the ropes until a lightning delay postponed the game. If they win the next two weeks then they are the new favorite.

Tates Creek has lost to Henry Clay, Scott County, and Lafayette.

Madison Central has lost to Tates Creek in 2OT, at Highlands, and was upset by Montgomery County.

Lincoln County has one loss, to 4A top 10 PRP.

That doesn't seem like a lot of seperation to me.:sssh:

First of all, there was no lightning at the Dunbar game. That was Lafayette vs. Woodford. Second, didn't Dunbar have a good showing against MBA...and didn't MBA beat Trinity? If Scott County is a notch above everyone else, who have they beaten? Don't be suprised if Scott County gets beaten by Dunbar this weekend.

There was lightning at the Dunbar vs. Tates Creek game. That's why is was finished on the following Monday.

Scott County is a very good football team. Maybe a step behind Henry Clay but I would give them the nod over Lafayette and everyone else in the region even though they would have to beat Henry Clay to make it to the Regional Championship game anyway.

Henry Clay 49-22.

The question in this one is can Henry Clay stop a balanced attack? To this point, they have not succeeded in stopping any team who can both run and pass effectively. The Blue Devils have had to outscore their balanced opponents. Their defense has had good success against exclusive running teams.

How will they do against a balanced team like Lafayette? I would think they will have some trouble.

they WILL beat Lafayette...if you remember last year when Henry Clay was also 9-0 and held Lafayette to -5 yrds rushing in the first half and then totally collapsed and eventually lost the game. Sam Simpson will have his boys ready and they will not have another let down.

At home where Henry Clay has never lost is also key in this matchup.

If Lafayette does lose this game, then would they play Scott County next week and then again in 1st round? If so, how would you game plan that?

yes, but how many passing yards did LHS have? Also Lafayette held HC to 37 total yards in the second half.......:thumb:

If I recall this game, Lafayette had around 200 yards passing in the first half. In the 2nd half they had around 200 yards rushing. I think that sounds more like great coaching and some good adjustments than Henry Clay collapsing. I think Simpson will have his team ready, but Harmon is not going to take this game lightly and will also have his kids prepared. Lafayette has beaten the Devils twice in the last 3 years playing. I think Lafayette has Henry Clays number. :D

After falling victim to both of these teams, I must say Lafayette is outmanned in this one. Home field advantage is also a big plus for Henry Clay.
