Division II

Archbishop Hoban (Akron) 42

Winton Woods (Cincinnati) 14

Division VII

Minster 32

Cuyahoga Heights 7

Division V

Wheelersburg 21 (OT)

Eastwood (Pemberville) 14

The Division I title game between Pickerington Central and Mentor is tonight at 8. Divisions III, IV, and VI are tomorrow.

I like the Roman numerals. Ohio high schools must be teaching the classics in their curriculums.

Hoban was up 14-0 and had only ran 1 offensive play. Tough for Winton Woods to overcome that start and it snowballed from there.

Nice to see Wheelersburg bring home another title. I'm pretty sure this is only their second state title even though they are a tradition rich school. Larry Hall a former Ashland coach, came to Ashland from Wheelersburg in the late 90's.

Division I

Pickerington Central 56

Mentor 28

First time since 2009 that no private schools competed in the big school championship game.

Division VI

Marion Local 34

Kirtland 11

This is Marion Local's sixth title in the last seven years.

Division IV

Steubenville 50

Clinton-Massie 36

Division III

Trotwood-Madison 27

Tri-Valley (Dresden) 19

Much closer than most thought it would be. Tri-Valley was driving to tie the game, but a pass got picked off in the end zone with under 20 seconds to go to seal the win for Trotwood-Madison.

Hoban moved up a division and still won.

Division VI Champ (Marion Local) and Division VII Champ (Minster) are from the MAC conference. The MAC is in western Ohio, with most of the schools in Mercer County.

The MAC has won 32 football titles in OHIO. They may be the best conference in Ohio, definitely the best small school conference in OHIO.

In a testament to how tough the MAC is, Minster actually finished 5th in the conference standings this year. You could argue that it's one of the best small school leagues in the country.
