There was one play, flag route from the slot, he would have surely scored...but he dropped it.

Saying SURELY he would have scored is going a little to far, there were 2 cardinal defenders right on him. Possibly scored, i will take that.

He would of had to trip not to score. Defenders right on him if you call 5 yards behind right on him. That was as open as he was all night. In the end it doesn't matter because he dropped the ball in a big situation. The cardinals had some key drops as well. Cardinal won the game even losing the turnover battle. Think we could of had more points on board except for a fumble. We were driving and close to at least FG range when that occurred. I sure cardinals will see this team again in future years.

Congrats Mayfield. Great venue. Stands packed. Trucks/tailgaters lining one end-zone. Just a really fun atmosphere. And, what a game too. Close until the end. I lost track of the times players patted each other after hard hits and from my view displayed great sportsmanship. Good luck next week Mayfield. You earned it!

It was a big scoring opportunity that could have swung the momentum and outcome. After watching Desales in 2015 and CAL this year (I missed the playoff matchup last year), it will be a slugfest no matter who Mayfield plays.

Agree completely. MF did a great job moving the chains with him and RB Matthews. They both run tough. Line blocked well too. I honestly think the MF coaching staff looks at where the opponents’ defense is vulnerble and gameplan the QB position accordingly. That’s the impression I get anyway.

This was no surprise to mayfield fans, we started the year with a 2 QB rotation, Guthrie got a broke rib in the Corbin game early I might add, and we stopped using it as much to let him heal.

That is why Joe Morris is such a great coach. Much of Mayfield's recent success has been built off a system type of offense. Their offense has been based on a lot of slants, bubble screens and quick passing. Morris sees he can go to something completely different and have more success and he does it. That is a great coach. You look at your personnel, you see where your team's best skills are and you adapt to have the most success possible for the team.

I too think he would've scored but they went on to score that drive so it didn't cost them any points. But mayfield fumble and dropped one at the end that did cost them points. Just sayin....

CAL by 3-4 scores on turf as last year. Slow, trudging, tiring running with high grass and several slips due to giving way as seen on Periscope. Fantastic atmosphere though. Like "true" southern football.

Last years game was tied 24-24 after 3 quarters. Mayfield threw an 85 yard pick six and the packed up and threw in the towel from there it seemed

OH tiger surely your kidding. And I wouldn't say they threw in the towel. Just forced to do things they weren't comfortable doing. That pick 6 was huge but a bad punting game hurt also. Cal played on a short field the whole game.
