And actually your question here is making NASCAR's point. They have an issue of trying to draw new fans that are minorities when the present fans that they don't want to aleinate carry around images that turn the new fans they want to draw (MEANING $$$$$$$$$$$$) away.

I have been around many idiots that wave an American flag and I have been around many idiots that wave a Confederate flag and many that wave both....but just because they wave that particular flag doesn't make them an idiot.

I think it is fairly easy to judge what the "heritage" of the Southerners behind that flag over 100 years ago and following generations thought of minorities.

 

Or would you assume that a Nazi swatiska in Germany really doesn't mean anything.

And by your own post, KY did not secede and join the confederacy. Some group may have gone to the meeting and unofficially looked to be a part of it, but by your own post officially KY did not secede and join the confederacy.

I agree with the bolded 100%. But I do believe that those who hoist the Confederate flag should be sensitive to the images that he represents to those minorities in this country. It is within my lifetime that minorities in this country received horribly treatment.

I believe it is a much better country when we as citizenry would think of others first rather than what we think/demand our freedoms give us.

I reread the post to see what you were alluding to and didn't mean to judge him. I was just pointing out to him that his view of things is not necessarily everybody's view and reality of what they were living or have lived through. Too many times, we only see things through our eyes and not what others are living through.

 

He mentioned he was only 18 and the youth have always been limited on their scope of things because they don't have the life experiences to draw on.

Why go to a place that a good number of fans don't want you there because of the color of their skin?

If that was was the case, do you actually think removing the confederate flags from the races would do any good? Racists are racists, flag or not. If they do ban the flag it will only stir up more hatred.

The visual image would be more inviting. And with more minorities showing up, maybe some from each side will get to know each other better and realize that the only race that counts in the "human" race.

 

And yes, I agree wholeheartedly, that there will always be stupid people in the world that wants to judge someone based upon the color of their skin.

Man, people are trying to ban everything these days. I am only 18 but I miss the way things used to be.
