Why Are People Reluctant to Discuss Religion???

Featured Replies

I will openly and willingly share my faith in person and have done so.

PP1 may have hit your nail or many others nail, but he did not hit mine.

This.

I just think that the unknown makes for interesting discussion. And religion & philosophy is full of unknowns. In fact, it's almost all unknown. None of us knows the answer to anything when it comes to an existence after this physical realm. We may say that we know, and we certainly want to know, but we don't. It's only speculation. None of us know for certain where we're going from here.

I was watching physicist Michio Kaku on YouTube and he basically said the same thing, that no one could answer the question of how we got here and where we’re going when we die. He and his cohorts search for the answers through scientific methods, others through religion and faith. For many faith is all the answer they need, for others they look in other directions.

He said he doesn’t rule out the possibility of a god creation and he also doesn’t rule out other possibilities. He said there’s simply no way to know the true answer.

@Jumper_Dad Please remember that I was answering as to why people are indeed afraid to discuss their faith. I believe a big reason is that people do not know exactly why or how they believe what they believe.

Since you are open and willing to share your faith, I was not referring to someone like you.

And I do not know how to tell you that I think it is "great that you share your faith" without making it seem like I am patting you on the head.

I didn't think you were, I was referring to another poster assuming that.

No assumptions regarding anyone specifically. You've always been willing to speak of your beliefs. For 90% or more , that's not the case. Got me to thinking about possible reasons. I think PP1 , myself, and others hit on some definite possibilities.
