Then explain why Mark Brown leaves JH and goes to Etown? Go from one school system to another in town? Weird.

What happened to trace Young last year? Why did he not finish the year?

Good question, not sure why he left for erown. If I had to guess, because more autonomy.

And young Mr. Young couldn't lay off the Mary Jane...why is he relevant to this? And how are the two connected?

The hate mail from some of you Hardin Co peeps is unreal.

Don’t worry about them plantmanky, being a middle school coach for as long as i have been the area coaches and myself appreciate what you and kymsfa do for us even if our admins at the school board won’t let us participate in the playoffs, some of my best memories are coaching in the region championships and also coaching in the east vs west game a few years ago! Thank you sir!

Can you expand on the fact that the administration will not let you participate in the playoffs.

The board of education said that Hardin County schools ( Bluegrass, East Hardin, West hardin, JTA, and North Middle) weren’t allowed to participate in the kymsfa state football playoffs and they also banned them from playing games outside of the conference for reasons I’m still not exactly sure of. They didn’t even allow them to have a conference championship game last year but brought it back this year. Basketball and volleyball can still go play whoever they want though. Don’t make much sense to me

Sounds like a title IX issue to me.

Brown was set to take Etown before he left John...It was in the works as they were setting Billings up for his fall. Sorry, but that is the reality and I know that for a fact. Brown knew what was coming up the pipe at Etown. Cant blame Etown for going after a HOF coach.

Now, with JH...Coach Lewis knew what was coming and I cant blame him for getting out when the getting was good. JH enrollment is down...WAY down. They will fall to 3A at next realignment unless something changes or they petition to stay in 4A. District cut the many of the middle class 2 parent homes from John and they have suffered. Enrollment is below 800. They also replaced 19 or 20 starters this year with kids who rarely played any varsity. They will have a good number back though looking at their roster. They took 50 players to Knox and had already let the freshman move on to their other sports. They did cut some kids loose who just wouldn't abide by the new discipline, something the admin is 100% in favor of. JV was undefeated beating Bowling Green, NH, CH, Meade...etc and Freshman have a few bright spots. I know a good JV doesn't mean a ton, but it's something. Discipline is now firmly in place and with the hiring of Coach Lindsay, the weight room will be a priority again. Harness never contacted any coaches at JH about wanting to coach...JH was still looking for coaches in June/July when the HC was hired. I can say confidently had he contacted the coach, he would be on staff. Maybe he didn't wanna coach at his old school...sometimes its just hard to go home.

As for North, they have struggled since Joe coached...but there are MANY reasons for that. Coach Thompson has brought discipline into the program and that matters over wins. He won't argue the facts of his record, nor make excuses, he will continue to work because that's what he does. His admin is clearly fine with what he's doing with developing players...and in the end that matters more than wins in my book. They have some good young talent and at some point it has to translate into the ship moving further into the win column. Central has been on the right track for a decade, this isn't new. Mike did a great job coming from Marshall Co. and getting the program to a respectable status and Coach Perry and Mattingly have continued that. Good luck to all the Hardin Co. programs, Lord knows you have enough internally and externally working against you!

Umm...no brainer for both. First losing season for the John since 2001. That's enough for us.

The only way this will be figured out is if they fire the head coach. I've been around football long enough to see who's the problem. How lost did this team look? This is one touchy subject. There is simply a rebellion going on here. First, you can't blame your players for your short comings over, over, and over. What do you think they go around repeating or tweeting? This group of kids have never lost and neither has the program like this. This place has became a dismal embarrassment. How can you tell a kid that they can't play then all of a sudden he's playing at the game? Kids notice these type of actions. I know for a fact John is losing three of their starters next year, they WILL BE headed to another school. I also know some kids are thinking about not playing. I can't recommend anyone to attend there anymore and nor will I. I've known a lot of these kids since rec league. Witherspoon quit because of the coach. North Hardin's starting freshman back left John Hardin because of the new coach and Coach Lewis leaving according to his unc and aunty. The starting fullback wanted to quit because of the coach, he missed tons of practices. He also played a game traveling without the team, SMH! This upset some of the parents and the younger kids, HELLO we pay attention. The seniors and Coach Lewis saved him from quitting and many more. Another fullback quit, he simply wasn't feeling it, plus another starter quit. Add a dozen of kids who quit or wanted to quit. There is no discipline going on here. As the military says, the hardest part is watching them walk away. In the players eyes this place is no longer fair and the discipline is worse. Only a few players get the attention and not the deserving ones doing the correct things. Military minded here but what you do or allow for one you have and MUST do for all. SMH! The school had an event at school a few weekends ago and the kids didn't want to go because of the coach was going. Also, when suspensions start happening from bucking the system, bucking the so called "status qou", two things will happen; kids will naturally quit, or second they'll quit on the coach. They just aren't feeling it. The kids simply don't like what's being said because they know it's not going to work. Mix the negative environment, blame game, and you have a train wreck on your hands. This program is about to blow all the way up, say swear. Swear! Add all of this with the dismal lost look of the team and lack of organization. Especially offensively, YIKES. If we had three time outs we'd try and use five! Go to the gym, Golden Carroll, Walmart, the cafeteria at HRC, or even church and you'll hear the choir singing at the top of their lungs. We lost to North for the first time at their place since 2005. John Hardin isn't use to the season ending early either or losing, this isn't 2001! This is what has most on edge. It was our first time since 2004 losing in the first round, and when that happened it was to Male. The other time we lost in the first round it was to Saint Xavier. We had our first losing season since 2001, SMH!!!!! Do you people realize this? In 2001 we loaded the buses up everyday after school with their equipment to go to a former high school everyday that year. Seven straight region titles, 8 in the history, and region champions or runner up 11x !!!!!! The fastest team to to 100 wins. This team was absolutely loaded with some of the best talent in recent years and better than anyone in the area. We've played in big games! No Saint Xavier, Male, Christian County, Bowling Green, or Highlands roadblock. I thought this team would be like the 06 team but we lacked a quarterback, barely lost in the second round though. But more so like the 07 team wit Camper, Parker, Gatewood, Orlando, Denham bothers, and Dom Beezy. The Livers boi is an even better mold of Camper or Savoy, just ask them. Lorenzo Reinheimer was better than Diaz, Morehead, Grant, Cadillac, and compared him to Dominic Lewis. We haven't been shutout since 2004, and never EVER at home. Now as far as the Trojans we don't ever worry about dem. It is alarming we lost beast mode to them. Still SMH! I'm afraid to say that trend will now keep occurring. There is an echo ringing. Some people also don't feel welcomed at that place no more. Jerm did apply for the job. Still SMH!!!!! I know I can't believe everything on FB or in church gossip but dang. Back to the question, YES both guys have to go. Give dem the boot and out of misery. They simply aren't going to get it done. The facts are the facts and a loser is a loser. Hooray! With those silver wings upon his chest tell America that they not one of the best! Yes I'm biased and yes I'm proud!!!! To much dang SMH around here. WE ARE JOHN HARDIN! I can't tell these two programs apart anymore

Had to slow down and read this, typing like you speak isn't recommended. You're right and wrong on several accounts. All of those years in the mid 2000's John had nearly double the enrollment, and that is the biggest issue. Being under 800 students limits the crop greatly. I know they had several former players comeback and talk to the kids at practice, I would say that is welcoming and respecting the tradition. Witherspoon quit last year before the playoffs, so this is kind of a trend for him. He wouldn't have been able to finish the year anyway due to eligibility and I will leave it at that. John has lost to North 3 of the last 4 years (again, the enrollment issue). They have 1 senior that I am aware of getting any college looks, and that is Livers...he had about the same year he had last year, so the talent you mentioned is really just in your head. John WAS shut out last year, and you are correct, it wasn't at home but on the road. John isn't used to being put out in the first round...agreed, gotta get bigger and stronger and a recent hire will help with that this off-season. Turnovers were a downfall this year. 35 or 36 on the year...I think is what I read. That is the big issue. This whole "some kids this some kids that", is usually the banter of the quitters or parents of quitters. Not a single kid has transferred, nor will any, in fact some that didn't play have told coaches and other kids they want to come back out. Discipline is much better, look at the reduction in personal fouls, school referrals...etc. All are improved, in fact I read in the paper during the season several were benched for violating team rules (rare occurrence at John). As for kids being suspended for bucking the system, THAT IS DISCIPLINE. You can't buck the system. In fact, a small handful were dismissed for this. I will say it one more time...Harness DID NOT contact the head coach about joining the staff. I can say with 100% confidence he would have been welcomed with open arms. Offensively they were better than they were last year in yards per game per KHSAA, but the turnovers can really limit how many you score (they averaged about 1 TD less per game). But the bold stood out to me the most, are you one of the ones that didn't get recognized? Or was it your son? I love reading the angry parent posts, those always make me laugh most. Especially from people who join a chat board just to dog a program (no pun intended). If you wanna grind an axe, go for it, this is certainly the place!

I have watched football around the Hardin County area for many many years and this particular team John Hardin fielded was not very efficient offensively. 14, 12, 0, 13, 6 are half of the point total scored in games played this year. I don't think gauging offensive numbers against Breck, Warren Central, etc... are telling when running up point totals against this type competition. I watched the North game and one of the Td's in that game was a punt return. North gave up a lot of points this year too, but only 7 offensive points to John. I'm not knocking North, I'm just saying comparatively other teams scored a lot of points against them. Yes I have said they played a ridiculous schedule in previous posts. I read the News Enterprise and a defensive TD was scored in the last game against KC and Livers scored late versus the KC reserves. Turnovers play a great factor in all games, but this particular John Hardin team was not very potent. Everyone writing about enrollment is correct. It has dropped and some think John will drop to 3A soon. As we can all see their is a lot of pride in North and John alike. I hope both schools can get it going in the right direction.
