Do John Hardin and North Hardin need new coaches?

I find it hard to believe an all-area or all-district or even bona fide starter was left to rot on the bench when apparently this one player would have changed the team's fortunes.

Aside from what the poster above said about his son, because there's no way to know his son's skill level, from what I hear, there have been several players over the coach's tenure that should have been starting/playing significantly both ways. My nephew who went to a few games this year and graduated a few years ago, talks about this amongst former players. He said there were several kids this year on d who should've played o, also - especially on the line. He would know better than you and I would about internal concerns.

I am not going into the internal concerns. Every program has them, no matter how successful.

But to have Grade-A type talent riding the pine or playing completely out of position all over the place like it is going out of style?

I doubt that is SOLELY the reason some of these kids aren't playing as much as biased armchair quarterback dads think.

There has GOTTA be more smoke to this fire, methinks. Something else is afoot. Has to.

Can't be that simple.

"My son" smh. I'll guarantee if your son was good enough Coach Thompson would have had him on the field. I'll say this for Coach Thompson he isn't scared to play a tough schedule!! How many teams played BG, BC, PRP, and Desales in non district games.

It's one thing to schedule tough competition...it's another thing to be competitive in those games. Which hasn't been the case. Running clocks midway through the 2nd quarter don't justify playing those games, in my opinion.

Internal concerns wasn't good word choice...I was referring to coaching style of not having kids playing both ways. I don't have any irons in the fire..my children are way past high school. I'm just a Hardin County sports fan, who can't understand why the best 11 don't get on the field. Prime example...no reason why the big DT shouldn't be playing on the offensive line as well. No justification. None. That boy is too daggone big to not go both ways! I'm sure he's not the only one, though. Maybe the coach has his rationale, but it's doing him a disservice.

The best 11 vs. Platoon debate will go on forever. E'town has had a nice run, but didn't really break through until it got some depth. Central Hardin has built its depth in recent years.

KCD is a great example. Hung with Lexington Christian for a while, but once all those two-way kids got tired, KCD wore down.

I think that is what North Hardin is trying to build to. Most of the solid teams which beat North try to platoon.

With all due respect, that's laughable...everyone on etown just about has a defensive position they play, and just about all their best players play both ways. A simple look at the roster breakdown can refute that. Close to all of NH's players are o/d specific. Etown's have an o and d position, and if I had stats, I'd be willing to bet they have several kids contribute on both sides of the ball, along with Larue County.

Etown roster- Roster - Elizabethtown Panthers Football (KY) | MaxPreps

NH roster - Roster - North Hardin Trojans Football (Radcliff, KY)

Answer me this..when Etown was at it's peak, in the mid 2000's with their big 3 and the French brothers, did their best guys play both ways - Duncan, Deaderick, the French brothers, do I need to keep going? All I'm saying is, in my opinion, I think the best guys need to be on the field the most. In some situations I'd take a solid guy at 80% over a backup if I can.

Hell guys I don't know. Maybe it's the culture at the school. Maybe the morale of the school is just down all the time. I mean heck they had a D1 player get kicked off the basketball team last year and nobody says a word. Culture is everything and if Thompson is trying to change this culture and nobody wants to accept it then these guys don't stand a chance. Hell Nick Saban would accept the job and then see what he has to put up with "my son" and "my nephew" and "my cousin's brother in laws dog" . Nicky would just quit Or Nick would just tell all the players parents I'm running the ship and if you don't like it jump off the ship and go to another school. Now after a year people might beat Nick, but in year 2 he will have all the cancers or former coaches and "my son" dad's off the team and would win.

The HC determines the culture of a team. I don't think that's debatable. At what point do you hold the coach accountable? Like I said earlier, no dogs in the fight here. I couldn't care less about someone's child pt who didn't get to play. I'm talking about facts here, like the first post on this thread addressed. When is a 29% win percentage acceptable after 6 seasons and almost all the losses to tops teams are non competitive? Too much talent in NH and JH for them to be mediocre, on a consistent basis. I hope JH comes around next season, but I doubt that happens if things stay the same at NH. I will say this, I'm happy for Coach Brown at etown and Coach Jaggers at Larue, classy men. They held the area up on the gridiron this fall!

They run the program and directly impact it. Why are you ignoring that fact?

Then explain why Mark Brown leaves JH and goes to Etown? Go from one school system to another in town? Weird.

What happened to trace Young last year? Why did he not finish the year?
