Tigers take Game 2 8-5 and now lead series 2-0 heading back to chilly Detroit...:scared:

:thumb: Thanks.

I like the 2-0 lead but still a lot of business to take care of. Game #3 is a must for both teams, in my opinion.

Tigers can take commanding lead and A's, realistically can't put themselves in a spot to win 4 in a row....

The Tigers play is a reflection of their skipper!! He seems to understand the players character and exposes their strengths. Leyland takes advantage of every opportunity that the other team gives him. IMO one of the best managers of all time.

I believe one of Leylands best qualities, is motivation and he instills confidence in his players, that if they work hard, believe in each other and buy into his system, they will prevail.

Often times, the difference between a young team full of potential and young team playing like the Tigers did this season, is confidence....from within themselves, from the coaching staff and from teammates, that each will do his job.

Young players have to know, you believe in them and expect the same 100% effort, that the veterans will bring each night. Leyland has always been able to mesh young players, with veterans and have them "overachieve", when others thought they would not.

Exactly. The young players feed of his demeanor. He is outright with his expectactions so each player knows what to expect and understand their roles. Leyland reminds me very much of Sparky Anderson. Always thinking about his next move.

I like his approach to the game, advancing runners, bunting, fundamentals, hit and runs, pitching match-ups....he's in charge and not afraid to make a change, or go with his instincts in situations.

Detroit puts the ball in play, which has hurt the A's in this series so far. Several opportunities for infield plays, just didn't happen and innings were prolonged and the Tigers, capitalized on the situation.

Good teams take advantage, when presented with the opportunity.

A great big dose of good old fashioned baseball. Just what the fans & MLB need.

I enjoy a great pitched game but I really enjoy a team that plays solid defense and puts the ball in play.

The only thing that can stop the Tigers now is a Yankee collapse.

Detroit Tigers - AL champions!!! Congrats to the Tigers, hope you win it all.:thumb:
