gchs_uk9
Congratulations to Atherton on their fifth win of the season, assuring at least a .500 record for the season. That may not seem like much to many but it is the first .500 or better regular season for the Rebels since finishing 5-5 in 1979. To go along with that, Atherton has only won 52 ballgames total since 1979, losing 321 times in that time. Success has been a long time coming for this school. Many congratulations! :thumb:
Pete W
For those that don’t know Atherton Head Coach is Ken Walker, an Atherton alum. He is the longest tenured JCPS coach and one of the nicest guys in the city. He was an assistant coach under Russ Gibson at Fern Creek in mid 90’s, then bounced around the city before becoming the Head coach at Shawnee then moving to his alma mater. Happy for Coach Walker and the Rebels.
Tigerpride94
Glad to see Atherton having their best season in a long time. I remember when they were in same district as St. X.

gchs_uk9
Who is in their district and will they make the playoffs? Doss, Fern Creek, Southern, Iroquois, and Fairdale. They haven't technically clinched but it is all but a formality. They can't finish higher than third, however, and could finish in a three-way tie for third. Their win over Eminence will give them a huge boost toward a third-place finish. A first round game at Montgomery County looks likely.
