BluegrassPreps Class 6A Football Rankings (10/2) Discussion

Class 6A

You can flip the calendar back and forth to any year you want, and no matter which season you land on, Trinity vs. St Xavier will most likely be the talk of Kentucky’s largest classification. The Shamrocks have owned the rivalry of late and continued their dominance by out-classing the Tigers once more. Male took a step in building their case as the most likely threat to Trinity by making a statement against Pleasure Ridge Park. Speaking of statements, Scott County made one by handling Henry Clay. The Cardinals get Frederick Douglass this week and to this point the Mustangs appear to be the best Lexington can throw at the boys from Georgetown. Northern Kentucky provided a bit of excitement as Ryle literally fell short by inches against a strong Cathedral team from Indiana on a Nationally Televised game. Simon Kenton got the win against Class 1A Beechwood, but the Pioneers had their hands a bit fuller than most expected and needed a couple favorable bounces to go their way. Conner and Campbell County will highlight the action this week in the northernmost reaches of the State.

1. Trinity vs. Eastern

2. Scott County vs. #10 Douglass

3. Male vs. Bryan Station

4. St. Xavier at #9 Manual

5. Pleasure Ridge Park at #8 Butler (10/5)

6. Butler vs. #5 Pleasure Ridge Park (10/5)

7. Simon Kenton at Boone County

8. Ryle at Cooper

9. Manual vs.#4 St. Xavier

10. Douglass at #2 Scott County

What a joke.

I know, you'd figure that Ryle would be higher after that Cathedral game. :bunny:

I don't think I can recall a weaker year for 6A football as a whole.

What a joke.
The voters are consistent in their rankings. I believe in their observations.
Noway SK drops they haven't lost a game.
This is not a computer based system. The Pioneers will struggle Ryle. They may struggle with Ballard in playoffs.

Noway Butler and PRP are ranked higher than SK.

No they won't.

Outside top five, there is not a team that strikes fear in their opponents.

It always is a worry to me when the 2 rivals meet (X vs Trinity) the sequel for all the marbles. The losing team in the regular season game, tends to prevail in the championship round. Or at the very least tighten things up considerably. One year a few years back, Saint X won by something like 42 to 6. Nobody gave Trinity a chance in the championship game. Trinity turned the tables and took another title beating Saint X in a close game.

I agree Simon Kenton will likely have a battle against Ryle. However, I think Simon Kenton will beat Ballard by 3-4 TD's if they play in the playoffs.

I say top 4. After PRP got spanked by Male, I don't think they are a real threat to the top 4.

Injuries were a big part of the first game. Trinity was healthy for the second game. I am not sure St. Xavier will survive Scott County or Male to reach the finals this time around.

Odds are the Pioneers and Bruins will hook up in round two. We have a lot of ground to cover before then. The season will go by quickly.
