I know in High School, kicking an extra point is not as easy as in college or the pros, but does anyone feel as if there should be a rule change? If it were up to me, I would eliminate the kick and have a team attempt a "2 point conversion" from the 2 yard line but only count for 1 point. A team could still go for 2 points but the yard marker would be pushed back further. Anyone have thoughts?

I'm not sure I understand why you feel the extra point should be eliminated. Teams score touchdowns all the time too...lets make that harder while we are at it.

Then we should do away with punts too...why change personnel when you are just giving the ball away? And situational substitutions, like speed packages, heavy packages, etc. And what about field goals....most teamI'm not sure why changing a few people is such a bad thing for extra points, but yet not bad for other plays or situations.

So because you are attempting a point, mass substitutions are a problem in the case of an extra point. I'm still not seeing why new personnel is such as issue on an extra point. What about new personnel bothers you?? Does it bother you when teams put in a heavy package on the goal line?? Just trying to understand the thought process.

I agree. Apples/oranges.

The NFL was smart in that the extra point was the equivalent of a 6" putt so they made it a little more of a question mark. High school is a bit more of a coin flip, but the counter to that is that scoring a two point conversion is easier at the high school level.

Kickers have to start somewhere to make it to college and the pros. Doing away with it in high school makes no sense IMO.

I guess I'm just dense. I just don't see how the changing of personnel on an extra point negatively affects the game or how getting rid of the kick makes it better.
