If we want to entertain conspiracy theories, then consider this.

 

Why was Belfry placed in District 6 in the most recent realignment? Was it in anticipation of cross bracketing?

 

Belfry has always, since I can remember, been in District 8. They are one of, if not the most eastern teams in 3A. Those districts typically move from west to east. Yet the most recent alignment has Belfry's district as D6, Russell's district as D5 while Corbin's and Breathitt's districts are 7 & 8. A complete flip from the norm.

 

Now, they don't involve Districts 7 and 8 in the cross bracketing, because presumably, those teams are the furthest east and travel would be a concern. Now, they have Bell and Corbin in D8, while Belfry, Pike Central, Lawrence Co, et al have to really hit the road in the first 3 weeks.

 

Hmmmm...

I haven't decided yet the jury's still out so to speak, Boyle's talent is really young even though they have a large senior class I've been told only 4 seniors are starting right now, If they can get by Lexington Catholic then I think they have a decent chance to get there but winning a state title for Boyle will be a very tall order this year.

If they can get by LexCath, and I think they can, then they have a great shot. Cross bracketing will be friendly to them in 2017.

Yes it will but they have to beat Catholic to have a shot.

Me thinks this explains why such an extreme has happened.

 

Otherwise there is literally no other reason to explain why Belfry will have to travel through two other Districts on their way to Louisville to play Central.

 

It makes no sense to me either.

 

It did give me an idea though. I believe that I am going to petition the KHSAA to see if they can make Belfry play on the road for all their playoff games. For some reason, it just seems fair to me, plus it's just too far to have to travel all the way to Pond Creek for the rest of us.

Definitely don't want to confuse them with the Pirates of Berea. :no:

I was feeling pretty good until you guys reminded me of the cross bracketing. I agree it is a joke and you are right about the Pirates play. Offense wins games, defense wins championships! ALTCat is right. D line and special teams have to improve a lot and mental errors and stupid turnovers have to stop not to mention we lost about a thousand pounds of prime beef on the O and D lines. However, if anyone can right the Pirate Ship does the name Philip Haywood ring a bell?
