Congrats Mayfield. 2A is loaded this year!

Ok MF fans, please don't be honest with anyone about what you witnessed in Union City tonight. Remember, we are trying to stay under the radar here.

First of all, I don't think anything that we say on this site will have any effect on any game outcome. Second if you think MHS is ever going to fly under the radar your crazy.

Overall, an outstanding performance by the Cardinals.. Make no mistake, they're going to be right in the hunt again this year.. This is as deep a receiving core as they've had, right up there with the 2010 team.. Matthews, Harrison, Murrell, Daniel and Guthrie can all stretch the field and all run good routes and have good hands.. The OL did a great job in pass protection.. Both QBs bring a little something different to the table and gives teams 2 different looks that are both effective. Stinson a little better passer, Guthrie more mobile and can get yards with his legs..

On the defensive side, the Cardinals have a lot of speed and pursue well and I think the DL is a little bigger and stronger this year and they're able to play more physical this year. They're also sound tacklers across the board. Hard to tell how the secondary is in pass coverage because UC is a primarily run offense..

If anything, the OL struggled to open many running lanes and as the season wears on, will need to do a better job.. Give UC some credit there as they had a very strong front 7.. The RB run hard, but, they don't have that break away back like they've had the past 3-4 seasons with Trajon Bright.. It's more a position by committee this year.. The kicking game needs to get better.. They missed a couple of PATs and they don't have that guy that can consistently put the ball in the end zone on kickoffs.. UC started in good field position several times tonight..

Union City threw one pass in the game...That's right...one pass. They say they were the #1 team in 2A in Tennessee. I don't know. Very one dimensional.

Mayfield looked good , offensively, defensively . I think we got a good team , #5 in BGP's.. right where we need to be.

What does Tennessee know about high school football. :lol2:

Way to go Cardinals! Beat Tennessee!

and to make it all the sweeter, UC was ranked #1 in 2A in the TN coaches poll. Yea I think its safe to say we represented KY very well

Very proud of my Cards!!!

Well, the score sure surprised me. I know nothing about either team, but the game thread leading up to this game had me thinking Mayfield may be in trouble. Congrats to them. It's always great seeing a Kentucky team beat a Tennessee team.
