September 25, 200620 yr For all the Earnhardt fans out there, what is your best memories of him on, or off the track?
September 26, 200620 yr One of my favorite was when Earnhardt went from 18th to 1st at Talladega in 3 laps. Amazing demostration of how to use the draft. Another favorite was Bristol round 2 with Terry Labonte .

September 30, 200620 yr That Daytona win was huge, absolutely. I was there and heard him through my scanner get congratuated by Bill France then Dale apologetically informed "Mr" France he was going to tear up his Daytona 500 painted on the grass since he had been after it for so long. But I believe the bigger memory was when his crew started yelling on the radio that Dale had gotten out of the ambulance and was driving the car toward the pits and get ready to go to work! :thumb: Remember that one?

Man, he had a strong car that race. Pit stops were killing him that race.
October 6, 200620 yr 4 words Pass in the grass. Still the greatest thing Ive ever saw done with a race car.

Another favorite was Bristol round 2 with Terry Labonte . Even though he didnt win. IMO he done some of his best driving in the round 1 race in '95 he had to come from dead last twice that night and at bristol that about as tall an order as you can get.

October 9, 200620 yr :thumb: And it's against the rules now.Actually if youll remeber it wasnt a "pass" Dale SR. was run into the grass by Bill Elliott and was able to save the car without taking his foot off the throttle. And did I mention he never lost the lead during all this.
October 9, 200620 yr ...and which would be against the rules for Bill Elliott now, since he was also below the yellow line(actually I'm not real sure those were there then either) during that deal.
October 9, 200620 yr When did they make going in the grass against the rules? It was at Charlotte so the yellow line rule wouldnt have mattered.
October 9, 200620 yr If you venture below the yellow line to improve your position, they send you to the tail end of the longest line, if they catch you! I'm sure that's why, when Smoke sent Kenseth into the grass earlier this year, he made sure Kenseth had gone completely off the track before assuming that position. :creepy:
October 16, 200619 yr In addition to all of the things I miss about his driving, I really miss his commercials. Does anyone miss the "Dale Earnhardt, gentleman farmer" commercial? I also miss the "Top 10"s with David Letterman about the reasons he didn't (and then did) win the Daytona 500.
October 18, 200619 yr Their are so many Dale Sr. memories for me, I have been to the Talladega spring race every year since I was 9. However, my favorite has to be when he got caught up in the big one and flipped his car right at the start finish line. Even though he was pretty shook up and burnt, all he was talking about over the scanners after that was how he was so mad that he burnt his own mustache off..Lol
