Where are you getting your information from? How many games have you been to?

I have been to enough games to see all of the things I mentioned happen.

Watty game article from last week's win over Cleveland Benedictine:

Passing game ignites Eagles to homecoming win

Bishop Watterson exploded for four second-quarter touchdowns Friday to key a 40-14 homecoming win over Cleveland Benedictine at Hagely Field.

Eagles quarterback Mason Takacs completed just six first-half passes, but four of them went for touchdowns as Watterson (4-1) blew open a scoreless game in the second period on its way to a surprisingly lopsided victory.

"I think everything is starting to click more, especially on offense," senior John Nicol said. "The passing really worked out well on Friday."

Starting with a 64-yard strike to Jason McCurdy, Takacs finished 6-of-9 passing for 144 yards and four touchdowns. McCurdy (three catches, 95 yards, two scores) and Thomas Kurth (44 yards, two TDs) were his favorite targets.

Watterson ran the ball as well -- Daryl Dotter finished with 89 yards on the ground on 16 carries -- but head coach Dan Bjelac said the difference was the passing game.

"We hit some big plays and that just energized us," Bjelac said. "I think we had a good mix. We ran the ball well and we were throwing to keep them off-balance."

After five games, Bjelac said he is pleased with his team's start.

"We're getting better, but we need to keep getting better," Bjelac said. "Even back to the scrimmages, the improvement has been tremendous."

Bjelac admitted that the second half of the schedule -- games against three unbeaten and against five teams with a combined record of 22-5 -- is probably going to be more difficult than the first was.

"It's going to be a long haul," Bjelac said. "Hopefully we can keep moving."

Watterson next travels to Covington Catholic (Ky.), for a Saturday afternoon game.

Covington is currently 4-2, with its two losses coming against Cincinnati Elder and St. Xavier. Led by senior quarterback Josh Bleser (6-2, 195), Covington's is a pass-first offense, though Bjelac said it is more balanced than the unit which lost at Hagely Field last fall.

"They're solid," Bjelac said. "They certainly look formidable on tape."

This weekend's game will be the first time Watterson has played on Saturday since the 2002 state title game.

CCH had multiple injuries, looked like they had a long bus ride and just plain looked flat last year. They got smoked in every aspect 0f the game against a much lesser team than Moeller or St. X who they had just played. New year, no let down and this time Waterson get's beat after the long bus ride
