Sure, it could be easily argued: How do you report something positive if there is nothing positive to report?

News coverage in general is terribly negative. Turn on the local news tonight and see how many "positive" stories they run....Maybe 1 or 2. Probably none.

I agree. I was talking to a local newscaster friend of mine last night and told her I can't watch it because of all the negativity. On top of that, I can get weather, traffic and sports anywhere.

At the same time what some people think is a positive, others think is a negative. And that's why I like this particular graphic, it talks about tone. Normally if we were debating tone it would be nothing but a bunch of subjective back and forth but when you put the name Harvard on something I think we have to take a deep look at the results.

We elected a billionaire, reality TV show star with zero political experience whose main platform is to erase the preceding POTUS' legacy. He won with a style that has never been seen before. He showed zero couth while on the campaign and was given a pass for multiple indiscretions that many others would not have been given a pass for. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that his media coverage has been mostly negative. It isn't a surprise to me.

I think you perfectly described a smear campaign.

And if you think less than 50% is positive, then you wouldn't expect 50% coverage, right? Heck it doesn't help that a large portion of his negative coverage is self-inflicted. Reactions to tweets, conflicting his press corps' talking points, the sackings of Sally Yates and James Comey, the fact that there is a federal investigation around many of his aids, his unwillingness to not keep himself away from it, and his constant barrage of "fake news." None of this is even policy.

Well usually when there is an outlier, the first reaction shouldn't be that all of the other ones are wrong. Honestly what shocks me the most is that FOX can't even get to 50%.

Yep. Almost.

I wonder if it accounted for the type of negativity.

 

I'd bet Fox News has had some pretty negative stories regarding the Republicans' inability to see eye-to-eye on healthcare or so to get so much as a draft bill together on tax reform. It's negative news regarding the president, but mostly frustration with his and Congress' inability to get the conservative political agenda moving despite controlling government.
