I don't think anyone is defending what he did as acceptable. My post simply tried to explain why he did it. I'm sure within a second after he retaliated as he did he regretted it. You're acting as if the guy had time to understand what had just occurred, stepped back and thought about it and then decided to punch the girl in the mouth. It didn't happen that way. It was purely instantaneous defensive response. Not all people respond that way but I say there's more than you would think....and they don't even know it themselves. I don't think I would have reacted that way, though.

If she has a disability that causes ticks that caused it, I don't see how you can punish her. If not, then obviously punishment is warranted. That punishment doesn't include being clocked in the face by a grown man though.

I never said that at all. I'm just not sure how you can punish someone for a physical disability. I'm thinking legally you'd be in hot water if you tried.

Let me ask you this....A student has turrets syndrome. Every so often they'll call out vulgarities or profanity. Clearly against the rules and a punishable offense in the daily course of school. Do you believe that student deserves to be punished every time they do this?

The guy should not have hit her, but her hit was not an uncontrollable tick. She hit him on purpose.

 

I agree. And it is possible she hit him in the eye...maybe the reason he went down and was not convicted of a crime. Otherwise, hopefully, he would not hit a 12 year old girl of any type.

 

I remember a video posted of a guy who pops out of a trash can to scare a guy, and the guy reflexively decks him.
