Your definition of "hit hard" and mine are quite different.

 

If she has a disability that causes ticks that caused it, I don't see how you can punish her. If not, then obviously punishment is warranted. That punishment doesn't include being clocked in the face by a grown man though.

The girl wont be punished, its just the state of where we are today, as she should be punished. Having a disability is one thing, this was a full strike to the bus driver and should not be tolerated, but it will be. I am glad a jury had common sense not to convict the driver of defending himself.

I think the fact that she hit him while he wasn't looking her way caught him totally off guard and resulted in a reactionary response from him. It was instantaneous, as if he wasn't aware who hit him and he went into a defensive mode in a split second.

No I wouldn't, but I also used to work in the KIPP unit at a school, and dealt with the "violently Special" ones. So I have training on how to deal with them in my past. I have no idea the level of training of the driver, but I guarantee you the training does not deal with "If a student punches you......" Guy reacted in self defense, plain and simple.

 

Here's what we don't see, what led up to it? That was conveniently cut from the video. I dont by the "it was tick" argument (at least not with the video we are shown)

 

Furthermore what about the aid/other adult that was sitting in the seat on the bus look at his phone while this was going on? Should have been paying attention to the student but wasnt.

 

 

Another thing, all this talk of schools and bullying, and yet if a student does it to an adult, its the adults fault. SMH.

When I think of Decking someone or Pummeling someone, this isnt it. When Mixon hit that girl or Ray Rice hit his girlfriend. That is decking or pummeling.

This 12 year old never even went down.

Terminology makes a big difference to me. It makes things seem more or less than what they are.

To me, this is worse than what Joe Mixon did. To be clear, neither are acceptable.
