April 26, 20179 yr I have bought 2. And I've put over 100K on each. However, I got the before pics before I bought either. Both were skin damage from the passenger doors back. I wouldn't ever consider a water damaged car at all.
April 26, 20179 yr I've decided to pass on the "sweet" water damaged deal. The only time it makes sense is if it is DRASTICALLY discounted. I knew a guy who wanted a pick up as a second vehicle he could use for hauling stuff home projects for a fixer upper house he bought and other things a truck is good for. He got a few years out of it before problems started. He concluded that what little he paid for it was worth the couple years of use he got out of it.
May 5, 20179 yr Author Looks like I may pull the trigger on a rebuilt title after all. Found exactly what we wanted a few years newer and with much less miles, but it's got some front end damage. Getting a couple of estimates to fix it, if either is in our ball park we'll probably get it.
May 6, 20179 yr We bought all 3 of my children's first cars from a guy who rebuilds salvaged cars. They were all great cars. The difference is that he is well known in the community, very trustworthy, and stands by his work. I would never buy a salvaged car under any other circumstance.

We are getting a very reputable guy to look at this one and let us know what it would cost to fix it. If he can do it on our budget I trust him. I agree there are some shady people doing rebuilds, that's why I was always told if you look at a rebuild get one that was done locally and not one bought somewhere else and brought here to sell.
