Bloody Wednesday, The Brawl at Hockeytown - 20 Years Later

Featured Replies

March 26, 1997 in front of a sold-out crowd of 19,983 at Joe Louis Arena, the game featured 11 goals, 10 fights, 39 penalties, 148 penalty minutes and an overtime goal by the man who earlier that evening delivered the revenge beating to one of the NHL’s most despised players.

20 years later: Red Wings vs. Avalanche fight night is still the best

And that's why we love hockey, Charlie Brown.

I was never a big hockey fan but I watched this one because everyone knew this one was going to get UGLY quickly.

Best rivalry in the last 25 years. Too bad it's faded a bit.

Man, I remember when the Avalanche were so good. I miss those days.

Hockey fights are the best. None of this open hand slappin', shovin' and "somebody hold me so it looks like I want to fight" crap. Buddy, they go at it. Saw a few good ones when the Ducks farm team was at the Gardens. When Blackburn came in for the Ducks, you knew somebody was going down.

I went to a fight and hockey game broke out....

Had not seen this specific game.
