PurplePride92
Wayne County scored 23 points in the 4th quarter to come from behind and pull out a 48-45 victory over Lincoln County on Lincoln County's floor.

PurplePride92
In Lincoln's last three regional eliminations they've scored 46, 42, and 45 points. Style, strategy, or opponent strength? A combination of them all. Last year they ran into a juggernaut and that game was over shortly after it started. This year Wayne County had a strong 4th quarter and Lincoln County's style allowed Wayne County to stay close despite scoring 3 points in the 3rd quarter. In 2015 it was Boyle County/Lincoln County. First one to 50 wins.
jlow
So much for the home court that everyone always worries about. Once again the home team will not win the 12th
Wireman
Well so much for the theory of the home team. Let the games begin!

Once again the home team will not win the 12th I've never understood that argument by folks. I can't remember when Lincoln County or Pulaski County last won region. jlow
In the 13 year period of the 12th region either being at Lincoln or Pulaski the record of the host school is 10 and 10. 2ce the host school has made it to the finals and once the host school has won it. The Champions during that time frame: Wayne, West Jess, Boyle, Southwestern, and Mercer. (I think South Laurel also won it before moving to 13th in 2005 ,but that could have been a normal rotation year at Lincoln)

Six of those were won by Somerset in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s when they were the regular host because they had the largest gym (Somerset hosted 22 of the first 27 "modern" regional tournaments). Listed below are the teams that have won as hosts. 1941 - Somerset 1949 - Somerset 1952 - Somerset 1955 - Somerset 1962 - Somerset 1963 - Somerset 1968 - Danville 1971 - Laurel County 1973 - Danville 1977 - Laurel County 1979 - Pulaski County 1989 - Wayne County 1992 - Pulaski County 1999 - Boyle County 2007 - Lincoln County To take it one step further, since the Lincoln/Pulaski rotation was put in place in 2006 -Lincoln County has played in all six tournaments on their home floor, winning in 2007, losing in the final in 2015, losing in the semifinals in 2009, and losing in the first round in 2011, 2013, and 2017. Their combined record is 6-5. -Pulaski County has played in five of the six tournaments on their home floor. The Maroons have never made the final and have only twice (2008 and 2010) advanced to the semifinals. Their combined record is 2-5.

PurplePride92
For the record, I am surprised Lincoln County lost but IMO this is at best a very mild upset. Wayne County had a good team this year and Rodney Woods(along with Jeff Jackson) has proven to be one of the best coaches in the history of the state of KY.
