Oldham County 76 South Oldham 70 (29th District Championship)

Featured Replies

Final form Oldham Co. There will be 3 other winning teams that I'm pretty sure that won't to draw the 29th district runnerup.

Happens this way every year

These two teams are the favorite to meet again for the championship, right?

Nah. Collins is the favorite they say.

Collins is battling issues, it seems. Chris Gaither is a great coach, and they have some really talented kids, but going into the tourney probably are the #4 seed at best (if the tourney were seeded). It's my understanding Feltner will not return this year, and now one of the key subs is out. In the last few weeks Collins has lost to Oldham County, North Oldham, and now Anderson County.

Doesn't mean I'd really want to face Collins right now - Chris always seems to have them ready for Region tournament play!!

OC controlled this game from the start. They were more physical and a step quicker than South all night. South could not hit much the firs half which forced Griffin to ty and put it all on his shoulders and at times he tried to do to much on his own. Without the three shots falling OC was able to sag help back into the paint to stop Griffin from driving. Heelan it some big early threes for OC and Gibson controlled the tempo. The quickness of OC took advantage of some lazy passes from South and the turn overs started to grow. South made a run in the fourth with Young finally getting a couple of threes to drop which sparked a short spree but they could not keep it going. I would have liked to see them run Young off a few more screens to get him looks because if he gets his stroke going he can quickly light the score board up. OC had really good ball movement most of the time. They may not be tall but have enough mass with Henderson and Larrimore to have an inside presence and they attack the seems to get some nice easy baskets. It will take a strong effort by another 8th team to keep OC out of Rupp. South will need to get their three game going if they want a rematch on 7 March. Great crowd and energy made it a fun game to watch. Good luck to both next week.

Collins is back to full strength. Feltner has played the last 3 games and has shot it well. Dom Turner turned an ankle last night in the 3rd and didn't return. But saying all that Collins is not playing anything like they were early in the year. Give Anderson credit they have really turned it on lately and shot the 3 well last night. Collins has enough talent to win the 8th but must start playing a lot better.

Nice game plan by Coach Z rotating bodies on Griffin and picking him up full court. OC's defense made it extremely difficult for South to get open looks. One of the great rivalries in The state. I would like to see a rematch in the region finals.
