Ram
What does Owensboro need to do to improve in 2017? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Purple88
I know of no team across the entire state of Kentucky that made more effective changes mid-season than the Owensboro Red Devils. Owensboro lost the 3rd game (to OCath by 5) and the 4th game (to BG - were not in that game) and were at a cross-roads at 2 and 2 in the relatively young season. Coach Fallin basically modified the entire offense from spread to veer and guess what.... It worked beautifully! Highlighted by a tough double overtime, district clinching win at super-tough Christian County on a frog-strangler of a night, the Red Devils did not lose another game until the Regional Championship game down in BG. Solid... Next year... they lose their QB, starting stud RB and LB along with several lineman. However their Sophomore Class and Freshman Class are arguably 2 of the best they have had in a while. SO Imonte Owsley is a special player and will be looked upon to carry the load IMO next season for the Red Devils. They have some good young LBs, but who will be the QB is my biggest question for them going into the 2017 season. Will they stick with the veer? When they did that they basically did not pass at all. Whoever the QB will be he will have limited experience, so at least a component of the veer seems likely. They should be in the hunt for the district championship for certain with the critical game being when they host ultra-athletic Christian County for arguably the district crown at Rash Stadium. They also have a date with the Purples in Week 4. Should be interesting.
Irish Cat
Landon Board will be very tough to replace. I know big things are expected from Owsley, but you don't usually just replace a player like Board.
rosco
Owensboro will be Owensboro. They will probably win their district, be in a toss up game with Owensboro Catholic and get beat by BG. No shame in this BG is very very good. They need to focus on the run, run and more run. When they went away from trying to throw the ball last year they got much better. They'll be a tough out as always.
