Congrats to Cov Cath on pulling this out. Dixie had a great game plan, and executed it very well in the first half. Their long possessions led to simple baskets and limited Cov Cath's ability to run. I also think however that Nowak going down so early in the game it hurt them a lot on the defensive end. He really gets up in the face of the opponent. Hopefully he is not out too long. His injury and foul trouble in the first half allowed some of the younger guys to log more minutes then normal, and I thought they did very well, especially in that atmosphere. Both student sections I thought were loud and great, and did a good job of going back and forth all nite. Very entertaining.

Dixie was very deliberate offensively and played aggressive D especially on the wing.

 

Thornberry had 2 3s early against the zone on swing passes if I remember correctly. Didn't score the rest of the game.

 

Dixie just didn't have enough scoring options.

 

Good solid team that plays hard D.

In the first half, Dixie controlled the pace and protected the ball. In the second half, Cov Cath controlled the pace, sped the game up and Dixie turned the ball over more.

As Clyde mentioned, Luke Lenihan hit 2 big 3-pointers in the 3rd qtr to give CovCath a lead & thus they could dictate tempo.

 

Lenihan replaced Nowak early on; he missed a couple open 3's in the first half that would have put CovCath up earlier.

Great job Lenny bouncing back.

 

Shreck was fantastic in 1st half controlling the speed of play favoring Dixie.

Geez-another injury for CCH? I hope Casey gets healthy soon.
