Am I Missing Anyone?

Honestly, if you left Kansas off I would take the field without thinking twice. Frankly, I would take Kansas, Arizona, Gonzaga, and Louisville over the it.

Villanova is the only team that has looked like a real contender. Kentucky and Duke at some point need to look like something more than a collection of talented prospects, UNC needs some sort of consistency, and UCLA needs a lot of work to become even an average defensive team.

It's not time yet. Those teams will turn it on when the chips are down.

It's Kansas... they'll pull a typical Kansas tourney performance and flop the first weekend

Since Self started at Kansas in 2003. They have been to the Championship game 3 times winning one of them. They made a final four another year before losing, they made the elite 8 four other years before they lost, they also do have 5 first weekend loses.

So over 13 years he has been to 3 Championships, 4 final fours, 4 other elite 8's. 8 out of his 13 years he has made at least the elite 8. So while they do have that early round exit a few times, they also have more tournament success over these last 13 years than almost every other team in the country besides maybe 2.

In comparison since 2003. UNC and Roy Williams has also been to the Championship 3 times, winning 2 of them. They been to the final four one other time before losing to Kansas...3 elite 8s, and 4 first weekend losses. Which one of those first weekend loses was once again to Kansas.. Seems like Roy Williams and UNC also is very similar to Kansas. So if Kansas has the perception of always getting knocked out early, then the same probably should be said about UNC, since under Roy they have been knocked out of the first weekend 4 times, only one less than Self and Kansas.

Sorry I just have never understood the knock Self and Kansas have on them about people a flop. When in reality besides Duke, they have probably been the most successful tournament teams in the country since he has been there.

I think any of the listed teams have a legit chance. It's pretty wide open.

Agree!

Our expectations can get out of hand at times. As a lifelong UK fan I have been disappointed many times with tournament exits. Now, if Uk reaches the Elite 8 I have no complaints. It is extremely difficult to get past that point.

'03 was Roy Williams last year at Kansas when they lost in the finals to Syracuse. Self with Kansas has been to the Final Four twice in thirteen seasons (finals both times, winning one).

I don't care what anyone says...Bill Self is a great basketball coach. You don't win more than 600 games by just sitting on the bench.

But, he has a lot of off-the-court issues it seems.

I stand corrected, you are right. I knew he started in 2003. I forgot that the 2003 championship though was right before he got there.
