Johnson Central 55 Lawrence County 12

Featured Replies

Shawn Grimm had 196 yards at halftime. Despite the score, Lawrence put up more offense in the first half than other teams had in entire games against Central.

2 Lawrence county players were taken off the field, the last one on a backboard in an ambulance brought almost to the bench on the track. I hope neither injury was as serious as it looked and would appreciate it if anyone could post an update on their condition. These did not appear to be caused by intent to injure, both teams kept it clean though the air kind of went out of the game with the long delay for the second injury.

Congrats to JC and good luck to both teams the rest of the way!

Lawrence did move the chains three or four times in the first half, and played very hard, but it was 41-0 at halftime and Central scored every time it had the ball in the first half. The third Lawrence player injured, number 40, suffered a neck injury and that, of course, had a chilling effect and the rest of the game was just going through the motions for both teams. A Lawrence County coach told me the kid had some feeling in his arms, so I guess that's the good news, and all of us pray its just a bad stinger. This season will be one of dedication and education for Lawrence, and something good will come out of it. Hang in there boys. Eagles, support your friends down the river, then kick some Boyd County butts all over Eagle Field next Friday!

Has anyone got any updates on the injured player who left in the ambulance? there was a post on another site he was un able to move from the neck down. What is his name?

First of all my prayers go out to both of the LC players that were seriously injured tonight, especially the second who appeared to have a neck or head injury. Maybe someone can give us a better update later.

Now as far as the game goes it was dominated by JC from the start. The score at halftime was 41-0. On the very first play of the second half Shawn Grimm broke a long run for his 3rd of 4th TD to push the score to 48-0. From there on out JC played its freshman and JV and that was when LC got both of its 2 scores and JC added another TD as well.

The run game of JC was exceptional tonight. It was nice to see Chase Richardson in tonight for the first time this season. All the backs did a nice job running while the oline opened the holes. The defense of JC seemed to be a little skeptical in the beginning parts of the game with a bend but dont break attitude.

LC has some very nice athletes and could be the 4th seed of out District 8 in the playoffs if they get some of their players back from injury. Boone Goldsmith looks to be a very good young QB with a good arm.

Congrats Eagles on the win and your first in district and good luck to the Dawgs.

To be fair to LC's spirited effort, Central moved many starters in and out the whole second half. The secondary, for the most part, played the whole game. The defensive line and linebackers were substituted freely, but I never saw a down where there weren't 3 or 4 defensive starters in. Personally, I think Central just wanted the game over, after the last injury. Lawrence, on the other hand, had something and someone (well, three to be exact) to play for, and I'm very happy for them that it was 55-12 and not 70-0. After the long injury delay, players were given 3 minutes to warm up. Louisa did it as a "team"; Central had a few offensive players casually stretching. That was very telling, and I'm glad no Central players were injured from sitting around so long. Resuming at full speed while you're cold is a good way to pull a hammy, or worse.

Our prayers go out to all the injured boys and we hope they recover quickly.

Ah this game ended like most thought. JCHS handed it to the DAWGS tonight! Grim was awesome! My prayers are with the played from LC that went out in the ambulance! I hope everything is allright

Here's hoping the players injuries aren't serious.

This game went just as I expected.

Johnson Central should roll thru their schedule this year with this dominating play.

High School football is as much fun as a kid can legally have. Basketball may be faster and just as exciting, but football is a true lesson in life. It makes men out of boys, but because its the only sport where the oponent is physically out for your head, it carries greater risks. The players and coaches understand and accept that. The outpouring of support many of us saw at the E.R. door across from the parking lot may be the silver lining for this team, which I predict will step up, rally, and succeed at making something good happen out of a bad situation.

J.C. cruises to an easy victory. This game was over early.

Were all the injured starters back this game? Is anyone still out now?

#11 suffered a hyper extended knee and #40 is ok..just a hard landing on his neck...nothing major.

That's the best news tonight. Two ambulances in one game, you tend to hope for the best but expect the worst. Thanks for the good news Dawg.

Lawrence went into this game with 3 starters still out They was #3 Fitzpatrick & #8 Buther & #72 Patrick all three are key players but I don't think it would have changed the final out come of the game .This was JC's night Good luck the rest of the season and hopefully we will meet agian in the play-offs :thumb:

Central has missed 2 or 3 key players every game too. Hopefully we'll meet again, and leave, full strength. Lots of empathy and perspective left on the field tonight. No fights, no rednecks (except the loser in the endzone that cost Lawrence 15 yards on the kickoff...(close the bridge to Fort Gay on game day?) and the uniformed gutless police officer who obviously served no purpose), and thanks to the 99.9% of Lawrence County fans, a friendly "rivalry" game you can take the whole family to. Class act by both teams and fans. Hope we can do it again next year, and every year. Pretonsburg and Belfry would be nice too.
