Louisville 85 NC State 60

Final from the Yum Center.

No Snider. No Hicks. No problem.

The Wolfpack has been and continues to to be mediocre under Gottfried.

Donovan Mitchell with another strong day, pouring in 28 points.

Cardinals are off midweek, with a trip to Chestnut Hill coming up on Saturday to play Boston College.

The best part of the game was Mango's wide open dunk, with the entire NC State team looking on from 10 feet away wondering how the hell that just happened.

Mango has been the most improve player on the team right now. He had 3 games this year where he didn't score a point now he's showing some good post moves and is actually been a good offensive player. His defense and rebounding has been solid all year. Pleasent surprise.

Louisville is playing really good basketball. My biggest concern is...did they peak too soon?

Peak without both of their PG's? Seems impossible. :lol2:

I'm just saying, it's a little early to be playing as well as they are playing this week. I'll be interested to see if they can sustain that level for two more months.

Mathiang has played better since getting benched in favor of Mahmoud. He comes off the bench with some fire in the belly and wants to play. He has actually shown some offensive moves that impress.

Mitchell is continuing to grow since the Indiana breakout and the lack of a PG. His shot looks more in rhythm and less hesitant. If he shows he can hit it early, it really opens up options for him to drive and for inside guys to get position.

Defense continues to be strong as Rick gets some matchup zone in the rotation with his switching man-to-man. They aren't very different in practice, but offenses have to do different things to "unlock" them. Length and speed help implementation.

Levitch plays aggressive, hustle defense that must really annoy opponents. He and McMahon have hit some spot up jumpers (which they must if they are going to show value to this club).

Adel is quietly playing well on both sides of the ball and progressing nicely.

Suspect they will play sloppy in the 1st half at BC with no midweek game and underestimating an opponent on the road, but get it together in the 2nd half and pull away. If they take care of business and smother them from the tip, I will be impressed with their attitude.
