He and Republicans all around the country are going to use this as justification for new voter suppression efforts ahead of the 2018 midterms. So you're completely opposed to voter IDs, even if it's implemented in a way that makes it easy and accessible for all eligible voters to obtain one? I don't think it's practical by the 2018 elections, but I think they can have something in place by 2020. My one caveat is it has to be easily accessible for all. If it is, I can't understand how anyone would be opposed to it.

Permanently stripping voting rights from former felons, no matter how long they've been out of prison, as is done in Florida. Making ID requirements onerous or flat-out lying to people about what those requirements are, as has been done in Wisconsin. Need more?

If it is, I can't understand how anyone would be opposed to it. Agreed, I find it hard to believe that there are many people in this day that don't have a legal ID to begin with. We need ID's in so many cases in our daily lives. It's hard to think that people have an ID to buy beer, rent a car, open a checking account, get a refund at Walmart or pick up a prescription...but they don't have one to vote.

If it is, I can't understand how anyone would be opposed to it. I'd prefer provisional balloting to strict voter ID, but I can be talked into the ID. I've always presented one and haven't had an issue. We need to ensure that people without ID can get one easily and for free, if they qualify. In the end, I feel like it's a solution without a problem given the minuscule number of instances of actual in-person voter fraud.

Each of those can be easily corrected...they are not an excuse to allow people to vote that shouldn't be allowed to.
January 25, 20179 yr I don't think there is millions of voter fraud but there are definitely some and there are definitely mistakes. The district in Detroit that counted over 400 votes but when they did the recount there was only 50 or so in the box is one example. I don't know if it was fraud or a mistake but this needs to be cleaned up. I agree with Ru', if it doesn't get cleaned up it can get out of hand pretty easily.

Democrats fought or suppress military votes and in many states have went against overtures to have all state and municipal elections consolidated to the same dates.

This is not a voter suppression issue, it's occurs only in selected states. Just because it impacts those with a felony conviction, doesn't make it a conspiracy

This is not new news. I think we need to find out how widespread the fraud was and under what circumstances it has been committed and get it fixed, for everyone. After all, in some states, "we got Democrats in charge of the machines"
January 25, 20179 yr I absolutely believe that voter fraud happens every election cycle. In November, in Detroit, a ballot box containing under 100 paper ballots, registered over 300 votes on the electronic tally which was the number used to determine the election winner. The paper ballots were not hand counted until the recount effort but the electronic tally was still used in the final vote count. I have no doubt that illegals vote in our elections using falsified documents or identities. I have no doubt that the dead vote in expected close elections. Is the number in the millions? I have no idea, but why not investigate it to see? Why are Democrats mostly opposed to learning the truth through a thorough investigation? I work in an industry that requires low income individuals to have a valid, state issued ID to receive what they desire. Those who lack one, have no trouble getting one, on very short notice, if it gets them something they want.
