Joe Castaneda vs. Mike Mitchell

Featured Replies

Joe is probably faster, Mitchell definitely has a better college body. Despite Joe C's size though, he can smash people. He put Dustin Menetrey on his back a couple of times his sophomore year.

Wrong . . . . . . . .

And yes--I watched that tape earlier today as well . . . . . . . .

Menetrey didn't have any trouble with Joe C in that game.

Can someone compare these two?

Who is the better cover DB? Is on faster, quicker, a better athlete or a better hitter than the other?

Since we are debating Cataneda flipping over and playing some O (similar to how Mitchell did his senior year), can we expect similar results?

I would say Joe C reminds me more of Jordan Nevels than Mike M. Mike was big and powerful plus excellent speed. Joe is more Nevels size and has that type of explosion.

Go back and watch it. I know for a fact that he stuffed Menetrey at least once. Regardless, he can smack people as can Mitchell.

And if we have to choose sides, I'll obviously take Joe. Both great athletes, one comes with no baggage.

I don't know if anybody in nky in the last 15yrs has had the type of explosion Nevels brought for his size???? The boy would flat lay you out..:thumb: :thumb:

He had one assist on Menetrey (an ASSIST). I think that you have him mixed up with someone else (because that was a nice hit).

To the real question--how can you compare?

One is a corner. I "thought" that the other was a safety/LB at Highlands. I wouldn't mind if they played on the same team for me. It would be pretty hard to compare 2 players who didn't even play the same position.

Joe C. is lock down . . . .I agree there. But I was really surprised at how small he is (got that opportunity on Friday night). I thought that he was closer to 5'10 or so. I wouldn't even want to venture a guess with this crowd. He has GREAT technique--not to mention the speed that it takes to play the game.

That's because the coach in Park Hills wasn't smart enough to play him on both sides.....:D

I think that the Coach in Park Hills may have a better idea than the rest of the people who have commented on this situation.

He got the ball one time against Beechwood on a sweep around right end. He was chased down by Pete K. (at safety) for a 2 yard loss.

Joe C. has probably played so much defense now--that he may have a hard time being as instinctual as he needs to be as an offensive player.

Us people who "don't know football" just figure all them players behind the linebackers are DB's and anybody who carries the ball are RB's. So in our eyes the situation is ripe for a "who da ya think is the better un tween the two? question.:D

You have a very good point there.

But then again--most people who "don't know football" know the difference between a CB and a Safety.

And they know that because they watch the Bengals on TV . . . . . . . . . . . .
