To answer why Deming doesn't vote to seed, If you were in Deming's shoes you wouldn't either, During the Regional I could see that, but not the District, there's only 4 schools anyway.

I like that Deming gave Johnson the job, he deserved it and it should translate into a pretty easy transition for the kids and program.

 

However, Johnson was an assistant for only one season and now has been handed the reigns to the program and that is a huge step and a great deal of responsibilty. Being completly in charge and the Main Man and leading the staff is far different then being a part of the staff and contributing. I think Johnson can handle it, but that has to be part of the equation.

I too think Johnson can handle it. He should be a good one for Deming this year and they may have a few good games against PC, Mason, and Augusta. This would be a good year for Deming to step up and show them that small schools can be just as good, heck look at what Augusta did last year. I think Deming will have a good, if not EXCELLENT, season.

Fast forward please didn't we have this argument last year??? So you think Deming and Nicholas County don't desrve any recongition at all just because the 2 BIGGER schools are the only schools that matter?? Remeber Harrison and Pendleton may face the same problems that Deming and Nicholas are having now, Limited resources and small schools usually don't stack up very well against schools like these but there will come a day. And it maybe this year .......I can always be hopeful can't I?

Amen, I remember back in the late 80's we gave PC a good game with Deming beating Pendleton County in the old 38th District. How quickley do some of these people forget that.

I guess losing to Mason by 15 is playing a heck of a game for Deming...

Well it is true it was one heck of a game. It is like Augusta goin to the 10th to is not a big deal, Even though it really is. I mean common if you took a small school like Deming putting it up against a big team (Mason), Deming would be considered the big underdog in this game and many think:

Mason 100

The thing is if a school wants the district to seed let them seed, if they do not then they do not. I mean the 39th is the same way. And to add that Augusta was 33 to Mason 34 and that is a big thing. Even though we lost by like 25-30 that is probably the first time that Mason relized that a 1A school could be as powerful as a AAA school.

A small school must never give up. Even as if they are MAJOR underdogs they can still have the potential to beat a big school and heck if they have an edge the region and if possible or heaven granted state. But never Underested Small Schools or for that Independent Schools. We have the same potential as the other "Big" schools.

Well I will live to see Augusta kick butt in the future. And that does mean a few certain schools. I will laugh at Harrison this year though when Deming shows them bigger is sure not better and will not be better.

If KERA was not enforced then there would be more than 175 (174 in 07) school districts and some of these big schools would not be as near as big. Take a look in a few years and you will see Augusta at 450-550 Enrollemnt and Deming at 500-600.
