Back before Muse had a particularly huge big for themselves, I got to see them play at Top Cats in Cincinnati. 2003 or 2004. I know the venue isn't around anymore, but for those not familiar, imagine a club about the size of a neighborhood bar...maybe 150 folks tops. It was melt-your-face-off intense and loud.

I saw them in Louisville around the same time. 2004 maybe. I think there's a doc or relatively high quality video of their Top Cats performance out there somewhere.

I saw a handful of really good shows at Top Cats over the years. One of my favorites was seeing Hum there when I was in high school (they had a moderate hit on the 90's grunge era with their song "

"). The band actually stood at the door and shook everyone's hands to thank them for coming as they left the show.

Off the top of my head some of the shows that I recall seeing at Top Cats

Love Spit Love - Side project of Richard Butler of The Psychedelic Furs - One of my all time favorite Top Cat shows.

Son Volt - On their debut release - Trace

Wilco - Probably their 2nd release - Being There

Secret Machines - Debut release - Now Here Is Nowhere

The Presidents of the United States of America - Debut release

Dido - Her debut release No Angel

Wally Pleasant - Comical novelty folk artist

Moonpools & Caterpillars - on their debut release - Lucky Dumpling

Martin Sexton - I forget which release.

Captured by Robots - One man band with ingenious robotic band mates

I knew about the Muse show and will forever kick myself for not attending.

Wiz Khalifia is the only one that I know I've heard a song from.

Several friends on Facebook seemed to be ecstatic that Bassnectar was coming.

I would guess you've heard some songs from Death Cab, The Shins, and Muse without realizing who you were listening to.

I'm sure I have not.

Too old for this stuff. Should be an interesting crowd for sure

I'm with you @TAC, DEFINITELY too old for this stuff. I looked back to see all the acts that have ever performed, recognize the names of maybe 5.....all rappers.

...you guys need to listen to more 100.7 and 89.7 FM ! :lol2:

Outside of the rap artists 1975, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Muse were the only ones I recognized so I'm not too far ahead of you! :bunny:

Not as good as past years. Looking forward to The 1975, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Death Cab, Muse, and AFI though.

I was a pretty big Thirty Seconds to Mars fan 7-8 years ago. Can't stand them anymore. A little too pretentious for me.

Muse would be fun.
