You all are great at after the fact accusations but no one wants to offer an alternative solution or tactic the US should take. Whine and complain but offer no other ideas. I ask all the questions hoping someone has the wherewithall to offer some other idea but apparently there are none. It is so easy to complain, accuse, spin, point fingers after the fact.

Here is a summary and my view on the whole Syria thing - a civil war broke out in another country as part of a pro-democracy movement. As Assad suppressed the movement he went into a deeper and deeper hole of authoritarianism. The US and several other countries applied sanctions as Assad took these actions. Two years after the protests began and the civil war escalated, Assad uses chemical weapons in Aleppo. Obama draws the line in the sand, then threatens limited military action and shortly after this threat while Congress was about to consider granting authority for the strike, Russia jumped in and helped negotiate the removal of chemical weapons to avert US military strikes.

It was around this time period in 2013 that ISIS was formed. There are multiple armed forces battling in Syria and ISIS gained ground on the others from 2013 forward.

I put some of the blame for this on Obama for pulling troops out of Iraq too quickly. That was part of what allowed ISIS to grow. The Iraq forces were not able to maintain control of their own territory. Obama was too focused on achieving one of his election mandates of getting troops out of Iraq and did not adapt to provide the right amount of support Iraq needed.

Also, it should be pointed out that regardless of how it came about, getting the chemical weapons out of Syria was a very good thing. If they had not been removed, some of those weapons very possibly would have fallen into the hands of ISIS. Spin the line in the sand whatever way you like but the threat did lead to the removal of chemical weapons from Syria.

Was Obama responsible for ISIS? No. That would have happened even if he had left a much larger force in Iraq. However, ISIS would not be as large and strong as it became if Obama had slowed or even stalled the pace of US military force withdrawals.

Now, back to China. I would like to hear what should be done now. Has it been handled properly and let it go? Should something else be done by the US? Put your view in writing here and let's see how this situation plays out over the next few years.

Link some Breitbart or Fox and then I'll trust the source. :lol2: :lol2:

What happened in Aleppo is a tragedy. This is a pretty accurate summation of what happened. I dont think Obama created ISIS, the theology was already there for it and given what was going on this is the result.

Russia did what they said they were gonna do. They bombed the rebels basically into submission and whoever else was close. This needs to be a lesson learned when dealing with the Russians. They never tied the hands of their military when they went in on what they intended to do. Eliminate the threat. War is ugly.

Agree with all of this. As we know one of Obama's faults was his headfirst dives into completing campaign objectives. It's unfortunate that obstruction helped fuel his motivation in completing some of these tasks. But now they want us to come together. I'd obstruct at every possible place. I'm petty like that though. :D

Maybe Trump will take out Putin once and for all and send a message to the rest of the world. Granted he'll likely need some help from the CIA to do it but I trust he'll get the job done and get Putin out of our way.

There is much more of a chance Trump takes him out than his predecessor.

If he doesn't take out Putin then he is a failure.

I am not so sure. Trump is not hawkish. When Obama threatened airstrikes in Syria following the chemical weapons attack, Trump strongly tweeted that we should not do airstrikes. Trump campaigned very strongly that he doesn't think the US should have attacked Iraq following 9/11. I don't see Trump as a hawk.

If he was my neighbor I'd move. You can have him. :lol2:

I was saying Obama was weak and was not going to do anything to Putin. He has let the Russians and Chinese have their way was my point. And lets not talk about Iran.

He better switch it up. His supporters can't tolerate another 4-8 years of being soft globally. Time for him to put up or shut up. Time for his Twitter fingers to turn to trigger fingers.

I agree with that 100%. 8 years of soft is long enough. See we do agree on something.

Yeah and when he doesn't do anything but kiss Putin's ring I'll be sure to call him out on being a failure.
