Somebody was saying that Pugh might have got injured in this game, can anybody confirm or deny this?

He tweaked the ankle he sprained in the first game. It's been a nagging problem for him since. But he was back in the game the following play. He's a TOUGH kid, though that ankle has definately stolen a couple steps compared to last season.

Prestonsburg improved in three areas this week:

1. Reduced "wasted" plays - only 2 bobbled/dropped snaps, 3 fumbles (1 lost), and 0 dropped catchable passes.

2. Offensive line stepped up - nice holes for Prestonsburg backs through much of the game.

3. Linebacker play - did a great job in stringing out the LOS outside and forcing Pugh to play in the middle of the field.

If you're a P-burg fan, this is what you want: definitive improvement from week to week. :thumb:

However, the Blackcats will need to improve next week at least as much as last to challenge Ashland next Friday... :bunny:

Anytime that Paintsville loses I rest just a tad bit better that night!!!

How you rest with classless posts like that is a mystery...

I haven't been able to rest for the last 10 years since Paintsville stopped me from playing at Rupp Arena. Paintsville was my arch rivalry when I played, so "SORRY".

You still can't deal well with losing to a Vanhoose-led Tiger team ?!?

Goodness...EVERYbody lost to those teams !!

Paintsville's player of the game, IMO was Kyle Sublett. He did a great job at LB tonight.

I can deal with it as a) I'm an adult and b) I've lost before - but that doesn't mean I'll be cheering for Paintsville anytime soon. I will say one thing, I have the upmost respect for Bill Mike Runyon and consider him the dean of 15th region basketball coaches.

No surprise here. The Blackcats came into tonights game 0-2 but had played 2 quality opponents. I think that it had the Cats battle tested and ready for Paintsville tonight. Paintsville is Paintsville and they will get better as the season goes along.

Sports Overtime had some good highlights of this game. The play were -p-burgs qb dove for the pile-on was great.

If you like that one, you should have seen P-burg's final TD. From where I was sitting, it looked as if he fumbled the ball into the endzone from about the 1 or 2 yard line but they called it a touchdown. I've watched the dive for the pile-on in slow motion, I could be wrong but I'm not sure how your right hand can knock the pile-on down but you can still get the ball over the goal line when your diving at that angle. Heck I may be wrong and it really doesn't matter as they'd probably scored on the next play. But when you fumble into the endzone and a Paintsville player picks it up, not sure how it's a touchdown. Oh well, the Blackcats out played the Tigers and deserved to win. If Paintsville doesn't get their line together, they may be staring at a #3 seed in their district.

Sublett did play well tonight as he has all season, and has been named BSN defensive player of the week last week as well as Citizen's National player of the game twice this season. I'm not sure who got awarded that honor tonight oneIjoe but I'd believe I'd give that honor to Bucky Bailey. He seemed to be the difference maker in neutralizing P-burg's offense in the second half when he moved to LB from DE. Not only was he making plays, but he was taking the amount of blocks thrown Sublett's way in the first half, freeing up Sublett to make plays himself.

I didn't catch that switch. But if that's what shook Sublett loose from his LB position, it was a good defensive switch because Sublett made a TON of tackles...

Well that's definitely what freed him up in the second half, P-burg took advantage of the freshman and was crashing on Subby with their tackles and TE's on the outside runs. When Bucky moved back to LB the crashing ceased and freed up Sublett. Bailey was in a ton of tackles in the second half and I'd give him the CNS player of the game. Since you're a fan of both the Blackcats and the Tigers, what do you think of the two questionable TD calls? Now that I realized after watching the game for a third time today, that it was 4th down on Hughes' supposed poke into the end zone I'm a little more irritated.
