Then I will bring up the question as to what makes a coach good? Winning? Say Coach Mason or Stoops start going 11-1 or 10-2 every year and start winning SEC titles. Are they now good coaches? But they can't be good coaches because they coach bad teams that are only winning because everyone else just isn't as good anymore. See where I'm going with this?

You're just in denial about how bad the SEC truly is this year.

Conferences are judged by how good the teams at the top are. Also go back and look at the beginning of the year and how many OOC losses the SEC has. Also teams at the top of the conference losing to teams on the bottom does not equal parity, it simply means the teams on top aren't as we thought they were. The SEC East was a dumpster fire this year and anybody who doesn't see that is absolutely blind.

As for the SEC East, 6 out of 7 teams going to bowl games...are they world beaters? No, but not a dumpster fire either.

 

11 out of 14 SEC teams are going to bowls while the B1G has 4 teams with 3 or less total wins.

 

Rolling up losses against totally inept teams like Rutgers, Mich St, Purdue and Illinois doesn't really make those at the top look any better.

You said a bad team becomes good by having a good coach. You then said a coach becomes good by winning. By rule of association a bad team becomes good by winning. The bottom of the SEC is winning therefore they are becoming better teams. I'm not arguing that the top of the sec isn't what it once was but I'm saying it's not what it once was because the bottom is getting better haha.

Dude they play 3 bum schools OOC every year. I've been saying forever you can't judge the SEC by how many teams make bowl games because they all play 8 conference games which allows them to schedule 1 more cupcake out of conference game every year.

So the reason LSU, Florida, etc aren't as good as they once were because Kentucky and Vandy are getting better? That is simply not true. They're not as good as they once were because they just simply have regressed as programs.

My bad for not being on the same page. I think you're misunderstanding my point. If the powers in the SEC lose to a UK or Vandy it will always be more about the state of the program for the power school. They should NEVER lose to UK. Never. They have more resources and natural talent at their disposal. So for UK to beat one of those teams it would require them to be down because they should never beat them when they are up or UK to draw in a truly elite coach who could lure big time recruits to Lexington which is very very hard to do. It's easy to recruit to Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, Gainesville, etc. no matter who the coach is. There are always going to top teams and bottom teams if the gap shrinks between the teams it is usually due to the teams on top regressing, not the teams on the bottom getting better. I understand you are probably never going to agree with anything I said, but I just call it like I see it and the way I see it the bad teams don't get better unless the top teams get worse.

Now we're on the same page and yes for Kentucky or a Vandy to go up someone must go down but it IS possible for either one of those schools to become good teams with the current coaches they have. It won't be next year or the year after but it is possible. Rare yes but not impossible. It would have to be like Virginia Tech and Frank Beamer. He wasn't elite when he arrived but year after year he kept winning which brought in recruits and eventually they became a national power and Beamer an elite coach in an area that's not loaded with recruits.

Yeah USC, Wisconsin, Florida St., Clemson, Louisville, VA Tech, Georgia Tech, UNC, UCLA, TCU, West Virginia and BYU were a bunch out out of conference cup cakes...each SEC school played one of those team OOC this season.

Still doesn't change the fact that they have 3 cupcake teams on their schedule. As opposed to 2 that every other conference has. You can't deny that the SEC benefits immensely from this.
