2013 DeSales team was a great team.

Are we picking who is best between the two mentioned teams or the best team in 2A over the last 5 years?.... because the two mentioned teams would not be the best 2A team over the last 5 years in my opinion

2011-Holy Cross

2012- NCC

2013- DeSales

2014-DeSales

2015-Mayfield

2016- winner

There's some truth to that, but we DEFINITELY have a leg to stand on now! I'll be honest about this, I thought we had a very good chance to sneak up on Mayfield this year if we could get past CAL. We were a better team this year than last year. We lost a lot of big boys last year, but the athleticism was increased greatly. As the year progressed, I felt the Colts were better than in 2015 on both sides of the ball. I still believe that to be true, but we just couldn't get past the Centurions this time. I left that game highly impressed by how good CAL is this year, and after watching them play Mayfield, I now KNOW DeSales was better this year than they were last year. CAL scored 33 on us in two games. So this thread entered my mind after the regional final, and I even mentioned the possibility that they might be the best 2-A team in the last five years in the pre-game thread of the game against Mayfield. Anyway, we'll never know for sure, but they are loaded and the only team I've seen in the last five years that stacks up against them is DeSales' 2013 team.

You may have a leg to stand on, but I know you saw the Corbin game where we played without our best offensive player , Bright. Then you saw Mayfield play CAL without it's best defensive player, Arnett. Could he have made a difference? A key tackle here , hurrying the qb to possibly making a bad throw here or there. Who knows? The sad thing is he wasn't injuried but thrown out on a call that in high school you can't be thrown out on. The KHSAA had the chance to reinstate but didn't have the integrity.

You bring up hypothetical things, I bring up mine.

I do know this CAL didn't face Mayfield's best team the other night.

Would it have made a difference, I don't know but I can only imagine.

Fair point. I also agree with the guys on the game thread that the score was deceiving. It was a much closer game than the score indicated.

Not saying you are right or wrong, but I wish this thread took place next week instead of this week.

I want to say that this is the first time I've seen a Mayfield guy mention the absence of their LB. That's a classy program that never mentioned a what if until now. This isn't sarcasm. I mean it. Cards are some of the best fans.

Not necessarily a what if but when there is a whole thread on DeSales/CAL as the best team in the last 5 years and CAL hasn't even won the title. Not taking anything away from their victory at all and this isn't even in the game thread.

Honestly, who cares? Des ales had a very good team in 2013, but, every team that wins a championship is very good. Not sure why this was headlined between just these 2 teams, heck, those Ft Campbell teams in the late 00's and those early 00s Boyle teams were better than both. NCC and Bardstown had teams worthy of being mentioned in this discussion, as well.
