A couple impressions from the game. Jake Johnson is a special talent and deserving of Mr Football. I have seen he and Walker Wood in games live and I believe Johnson should get it. Just my opinion.

Big momentum shift when South returns second half kickoff to the 16 but a dumb block in the back penalty moved them back and could not capitalize on the return. Pulaski went down and scored -- a 14 point swing.

Thought the game also changed when Keanan John (WR/DB) for South got hurt in the 3rd quarter and played sparingly the rest of the game. He was Souths deep threat and without that the offense changed. It also changed the defense as the Db's were then 2 freshman, a sophomore and a junior. Having Keanan back there may not have stopped Pulaski but could have slowed them down. Senior leadership would have helped.

Souths offense looked like the number two scoring offense in 5A. Unfortunately the defense just came up shy of making a few stops in key situations.

Zaubi had a hand in 6 of the 7 TDs (4 passing/2 running). Believe he set school records for single season passing yards and passing TDs. And he is a junior.

Keaton Martin, who is a freshman, played an outstanding game and had an incredible season. Can't wait to see what is ahead for this young man.

South will also return 2 OL, 3 slot backs and WR Drake Silcox. Lots to look forward to next season.

Pulaski has a nice nucleus of players returning -- hope to see these two teams match up next season. Defenses beware.

After it's all said and done he's making his 4th consecutive title game (coming from a school that had never appeared in a title game) and this yr doing it with a new QB..

I think Jake Johnson is deserving. I also think Jamale Carothers RB Bowling Green is deserving. I'm sure Lafayette fans think Walker Wood is deserving. Problem is it is a popularity contest for the voters. We'll see.

All are deserving, all fantastic football players.. no matter who wins they've all had fantastic high school careers.

I ws not at the game but if Cooper Cantrell was kicking than yes he is a senior. I think he will be playing soccer at the next level.

Cooper Cantrell is a senior. He is going to UK on a soccer scholarship. He did this for fun this season.

Yes South has some young talent but they have opted to try and win shoot outs the last few years and cannot always count on the offense to outscore the opponent. They have to relook their defensive philosophy and scheme if they hope to continue to drive deep into the playoffs. A great season for South no doubt and good luck to Pulaski against a power house BG.

Watching the 2nd half on video, I think the Zone that SO was playing really helped Pulaski out. WR's would run to an open spot, turn around and catch the ball most of the 2nd half. Only a pass or 2 where they had to hit a receiver in stride running past a defender. That and absolutely NO pressure on QB Cain in the 2nd half, really allowed the Maroons to just play pitch and catch for most of the 2nd half.

We have a whistle and a jacket for you anytime you want to come and do what we have done at South Oldham. How about a "great season boys" and move on. This is why I limit my interviews with your affiliates. In my best Les Miles moment... I'm damn proud of my mighty fine football program. Look at we're we were 8 years ago. We will continue to work hard so just maybe we can get a little respect on this site.

My comments were in no way meant to diminish the success of the program or the young men on the team. It was just an honest observation of an area that I feel can use improvement to get to the final price. My kids go to South and we are supporters of the entire athletic programs. I think most people on this site who comment on South Oldham football have been positive and your unwarranted response to one observation must have hit a nerve somewhere. I have been around football probably far longer than you having played on 3 state championship teams under Hall of Fame Coach Marshall Patterson and coached semi pro in Japan and high school in Alabama in my spare time I think I know something about football. Your insinuation that everyone on this site are just a bunch of good ole boys sitting in the local diner is far from accurate. I think the experience and intellect of the site is very insightful. Again I believe everyone has congratulated South on a record setting season for the program and for the team members and want to see the success continue into the future.
