Well, really for anyone out there in the workforce, because safety is everyone's responsibility and everyone should be involved. Here are the new OSHA safety and health management system guidelines that were created to help every workplace ensure they are doing what they need to in order to have an adequate safety and health management system, equating to a safe workplace. These guidelines replace existing guidelines that were created in 1989 but were inadequate in a few areas. There is a lot of good info here for anyone that would like to take the time to read it, and I would definitely suggest that those who are directly involved in safety, be it a safety team, safety supervisor, etc. to put this link in their favorites so they can have quick access to it. Glad I'm retired. Getting everything out in the construction industry was mind boggling.

My initial thought when I saw the thread title was a video I watched yesterday of a worker ending up beneath the rear end of a forklift after it tilted forward and came back to rest on four wheels.

 

If you work near heavy equipment daily, or work anywhere really, please be aware that safety precautions are in place for your benefit.

On average we have at least 1 forklift related fatality every year in KY, and over 100 nationally. I spent years teaching forklift safety classes (among others) as part of my job...have taught dozens and dozens of classes and thousands of people over the years (don't teach any longer as a manager). Forklifts can be very dangerous without the proper training, oversight and maintenance, but unfortunately many people and workplaces do not give them the proper respect they should.

I have seen some really bad forklift, reach truck amd walkie rider accidents before.
