Who knew that the FBI, DOJ and IRS just now was politicized beginning in 2008? And they said Obama didn't do anything. Hell, sounds like he did something no other administration has ever done before. :lol2: :lol2:

Can you cite examples in which J. Edgar Hoover directed the FBI to destroy evidence and grant immunity to suspects, and then failed to indict the subject of its investigation? That is exactly what The FBI has done in the case of Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills. The FBI and the Justice Department used to work together to bring career criminals like Hillary Clinton to justice.

 

I am not saying that the FBI has ever been run free of political influence - just that it has never been the political tool of the president that it has become today. J. Edgar Hoover maintained his control over the agency by keeping embarrassing information about politicians from becoming public, but I do not recall him withholding or destroying evidence that was the subject of a subpoena or an ongoing investigation.

Knowing Hoover's spotty history, I'm going to say, yeah, he probably definitely did that, especially in an era when it was infinitesimally easier to cover things up. Comey could have learned a thing or two from him about doing his job, regardless of which party controlled the White House. The criminal class has merged with the political class in this country and the FBI has been effectively neutered.

My guess is Hoover's closet of skeletons was unbelievably massive by the time of his death. Especially considering the lengths he went to in order to keep his "non-traditional" relationship from coming to light.

Edgar Hoover's activities during an incredible run of nearly four decades of outrageously massive influence on the direction of our country. I'm sure it was all on the up-and-up, especially during those days of great record-keeping and governmental oversight between 1935-72. (Sarcasm filter here!)

I don't think that I would be criticizing the Hoover's record keeping if I supported an administration with the record of "losing" email messages (IRS) and blatantly destroying records following a Congressional subpoena (Hillary Clinton and her minions) that the Obama administration has posted. Armed with a hammer and a strong magnet, electronic records can be made to permanently disappear at a much faster rate than was possible during the Hoover administration.

 

Yet, the Obama administration managed to screw up multiple cover-ups worse than Nixon's administration did in the Watergate scandal. There were just not as many willing participants in the Watergate cover-up. Specifically, Hoover refused to participate in Nixon's plan to exact revenge on his political enemies, which led to the formation of the White House Plumbers group. Following Hoover's death, it was Deputy FBI Director, Mark Felt (a/k/a "Deep Throat"), who leaked information to Woodward and Bernstein, which led directly to Nixon's downfall.

 

Your "everybody does it" defense of Obama's DoJ and FBI refusal to hold Hillary Clinton accountable for her crimes is a feeble one. Even Nixon did not politicize federal agencies to the extent that Obama has. Nixon feared Hoover, as did other presidents. The DoJ and FBI are Obama's political allies and have actively suppressed multiple Obama administration scandals.
