Does anyone have experiences in both the GCYL and the NKYFL? Wanted to find out how the competition levels match up.

My son played in the NKYFL for two full seasons and this year in the GCYL. Going into this season I thought that was going to see a difference, but after going through this season I didn't see much of a difference when it comes down to the overall competition between the two leagues. I'm taking into consideration all age/grade levels.

What age/grade is your son?

What is the GCYL? Greater Cincinnati?

He played on the 3/4th grade team. I watched games at the different age levels.

Greater Catholic Youth League. Majority of the teams are in the Cincinnati area.

It all comes down to coaching.

Is that the league that Cov Cath's MS teams play in?

How many teams do they have? Do they have separate 7th and 8th grade teams?

As I understand it, 8th grade team plays in Cincinnati, 7th grade team plays in NKMSF. I could be wrong but it could be that there is no 7th grade league in Cincinnati.

I watched my nephew play for years in the NKYFL along with my wife's cousin in the GCYFL. I wouldn't say there was any difference in the competition level. The main difference was the playing field. NKYFL plays their games in a stadium of some sort. GCYFL plays games in what equates to an open field between 2 streets sometimes, which was kinda cool.

The NKYFL plays most games at the NKY high schools each team is affiliated with. In addition, each team will play a couple games at Mills Road Park which has 2 football fields, which I'm guessing is the "stadium" you are referring to.

Yes. When I said 'stadium of some sort', I was referring to a high school or Mills. GCYFL plays games at the local parks, wherever they can have a flat 120 yards. There are no field goal posts and rarely any bleachers.
