As far as the lighting goes. I never had a problem and my vision is horrible. I admit it'd be nice if we could get some new lighting but I find it annoying to hear people complain about it like it's oh so awful. It's really not THAT bad.

I like Manual Stadium but trust me when I say that the local TV stations hate shooting games there. Highlights from the games look horrible and its a cameramans nightmare. If they could get some new lights I think it would be a perfect stadium.

When was the last time you were there? Evidently not since the 90's, because that's what a stadium that needs some major work looks like. The past few years have been VERY good to Manual stadium. A lot of major work had been done, and a lot of time, money, and effort from a lot of people has gone into the improvements. As much as that stadium has gone through it's in pretty good shape. Unless we tear the whole place down and rebuild it, it's not going to have the modern classiness of Marshall Stadium, but it's still a landmark in Louisville and one of the better stadiums out there.

By the same token though my horned friend, you are used to the lighting being that dim. I also seem to recall another ram friend of your agreeing with me about the lighting the other night and using it for homefield advantage against pass heavy teams.

Not entirely different from Lake Boone County... :sssh:

I agree that it would be great to get some new lights, I'm sure I've said it in threads long ago, but to claim that can't can't see the field is just plain ridiculous. I honestly never heard complaints about it until here on BGP, and I never had complaints about it as a spectator at my brothers' games. Time has passed and that's probably added to their deterioration, and again, I am an advocate of new lights, I am just not seeing them as big of a problem as others.

Given the existing lighting configuration, it would be interesting to see what the illumination would look like if all the burnt out bulbs were replaced. I was amazed at the number of bulbs which were not working at the X/Fern Creek game last week.

On a side note, lighting seems to be a general problem in other areas of Manual Stadium also. I went to the men's restroom on the visitor's side about 45 minutes before the start of the X/Lexington Catholic game two weeks ago and thought I had entered a cave. A fellow who was working concessions for Manual told me the circuit breaker was on, so the lights must be burnt out.

I wouldn't know, I've never been over there.

As far as the thread goes, Marshall field is a VERY nice football facility! Period.

The fact is that around here you will not see a public school facility rival the newer private facilities. The money is not readily available and as much as many would like to think, alumnus are not that generous with the donations for such a project. Male High School will be one of the last public facilities you will see to have developed such a facility. Fairdale got in on the action but the comparisons are very slight.

You have to recognize (acknowledge) the alumnus and supporters of the T program to have been able to get this done.

The lighting at Manual Stadium will need attention. As soon as some of the movers and shakers decide it is a priority maybe (the one thing that keeps garnering criticism for the old landmark) the lighting can be upgraded.

That is the only thing about Manual Stadium that is at all a problem. The whole place is awesome. I love watching games there!

I really enjoyed playing there and now coaching there. The memories are awesome. Not alot different even if you look at older pictures, real nostalgic.

I am sure that most the Trinity players will also have fond memories of their new home. A hundred years later they will be nostalgic.:thumb:

About how many people would you say this stadium can sit?
