Final from Gilligan Stadium in Bellevue.

 

Ludlow scores late in 4th Qtr and decides to go for 2 and the lead. They convert and Bellevue answers with less than 2 min to go with Eric Atkins connecting with Sr Tucker Thomas on a 58 yard TD.

 

Ludlow in the final minute makes a valiant effort marching down inside the Bellevue 10 yrd line only to stall on 4 downs.

Bellevue wins the district 2 seed...

It was a fun game to watch.

Figured this would be close, Bellevue and Ludlow are known for playing each other tough. Congratulations to the Tigers.

I left the NewCath/Newport game at half and walked over from the house to this one and arrived for the 2nd half kickoff.

 

Other than an Eric Atkins to Seth Evers 59 yard TD pass with under 8;00 in the 3rd, neither team did much moving the ball until under 4 minutes in the 4th.

 

Ludlow recovered a fumbled punt return on their own 30 with under 4:00, but 3 consecutive incomplete passes and it looked all but bleak for the Panthers. However, Eads completes a 25 yard pass on 4th down, and a few plays later he hits Chandler Booker in stride for the 32 yd TD. Following a timeout the Panthers go for 2, and off a fake handoff Eads hits a wide open receiver on the quick pop pass, and it's 15-14 Ludlow with 2:15 to go.

 

Tiger take over on their own 30 and after a 12 yd 3rd down completion to replenish the downs, on 2nd and 10 Atkins hits a streaking Tucker Thomas for the 58 yd TD. Bellevue goes for two, but are denied and it's 20-15 with 1:44 left.

 

Ludlow takes over on their own 43, and on 4th and 10 Eads completes a beautiful pass for 37 yards. Following a few quick short passes the Panthers have it 1st and goal from the 9 with 55 ticks left on the clock. On 1st down a run play results in a 3 yd loss, and then 2 straight incomplete passes. On 4th down Eads scrambles and does a nice job of evading 3 would be tacklers, but his pass is short and that's your ballgame.

It was a fun game to watch.

That long 4th down pass it was not Eads who threw it. It was Blackburn who threw that bomb and Eads caught it.
